i dont agree with these conroe baord pricing, there is some serious price gouging going on here, and like i said earlier today in a thread, DONT BUY THEM, force the retailers to lower their price.
guys we make the prices on these baords.
if they get them and slap a $250 price tag on them,, dont friggin buy them.. wai tthem out,, make them sweat. within a few days if the sales suck they will drop the prices.
the power to force these retailers into a reasonable pricing scheme is within our hands.
all it takes is a little self control and you guys' part..
just wait for pete's sake not everyone has their conroe baords out and you know as well as i do, asus isnt known for the best, becuase the minute you think they are someone comes out and kicks their ass. ..
just wait.. let the other baords come out.

That is a much more fair comparison. You can't compare the performance of dated technology to that of technology that hasn't even been officially released.
In their day the socket 939 A64s were unmatched and with all the OCing features an overclocker could want, I would say the nF4 LP series was worth every penny. A far cry from the conroe boards avalable today.
There is no doubt that the conroe performance is unmatched and far exceeded anything I and probably most everyone had expeted and will probably reign supreme for a long time to come. But let's try to keep the comparsions fair.![]()

The $201.99 didn't include shipping. Granted shipping was cheaper then ($4) but I don't count that against the board.Originally Posted by theteamaqua

Nothing is going to change in 3 weeks when conroe is release. Not like AMD is releasing something in the next 3 weeks. The comparison WOULD be fair when conroe is release because you compare whats currently been released.Originally Posted by TheMeatFrog
As far as comparisson goes... I think its perfectly fine to compare it to the FX-60 because even E6600 outperforms the FX-60. Comparing performances.... but if you wanna compare by closest pricing then i gues it'll be the Opteron 165... The conroe will wipe the floor with an Opteron 165 everyday of the week and twice on sundays.
Guarantee? there is no guarantee with the opterons. Some will hit 3gigs and some won't even go past 2.6ghz. NO GUARANTEE.Originally Posted by dandragonrage
if you are LUCKY LUCKY you will attain 3.0 Ghz.. about 1200Mhz overclock. not bad.
as posted earlier... the E6600 can get to about 3.8 on air... about 1400Mhz overclock....
Not only is the e6600 faster at stock...it overclocks better...much better. Trust me.... at 3.8Ghz, nothing thats out by AMD right now can touch it.

Intel chipsets are always more expensive, if you think by waiting and not buying they get cheaper then you'll just end up waiting. These motherboards won't get cheaper in a couple of weeks; i965 may be delayed, and RD600 has been delayed.
Unless you cheap buggers want to be overclocking on Asrocks I suggest you bite the bullet or watch as Asus DH goes out of stock.
The comparison doesnt sit well with me either tbh, the thread starter didnt say they where overpriced compared to AMD, he perhaps chose an unfortunate title to the thread calling them overpriced, his point at least from my point of view is that price gouging is getting silly, upto a 25% premium on boards based on prices now compared to a month ago. Doesnt that seem a little excessive? i can understand a $5-10 premium. by not $50
Not that im blaming the etailers that are doing it, if people are willing to buy them, then its fair game.
I guess I'm not built to be an early adopter. It's just... I'm already playing all my games at max settings. That's what my X1900XT is for. Here, though, what I'm mainly arguing about is the motherboard alone I guess. If the E6600 ends up $350, fine. But $250 for a P965? They're not charging that much money for the board. They're charging that much money for Conroe; which I'd already be buying seperately.
I can go without Conroe for a while; I'd reather have money for a DX10 card. It would cost less, increase performance more, and have more features, where as Conroe will cost more, incerase performance quite a bit, but won't give my computer any new abilities.
I've just always put thoughts of a motherboard to the wayside. The price never got to me. I always thought, "Woah; the power of an FX62 in a $300 package?" I never concidered $250 for the board. I'm really saying too much, even when I haven't seen P965 prices. I'll just watch and decide then. It's not like Conroe is being replaced soon.
