Asus P5W DH & X1900XT in orange slot boot Problem

If I try to boot with my x1900xt in the main PCI-E orange slot then the pc powers on but there is no picture. I still get the 3 beeps I always do warning me I have no cpu fan ( as im on water ) so its as if the pc is booting up.

It boots fine when using the lower black slot which i prefer anyway as i have more room there but I think the black slot is only 8x where as the orange is 16x. Also if the board is faulty I will want to RMA

Any one else tried the above combo without any problem ?

take the battery out, switch the jumpers for the battery, place the jumper back to it's original pin location, re-insert battery and try the orange slot again...

Thanks, i would like to know if anyone can run a gfx card on the orange slot or whether its only for master cards. The manual says not.

I have a X1900XT as well however my cpu, ram and HD do not arrive until thursday (tomorrow) so I'll see if it works alright.

However you should be fine with the black slot. Both PCI-E slots are 16x until you plug two PCI-E into both slots.

On page 2-25 the manual just says to put the main gpu on the orange slot. This to me means that any GPU you use should be used on this line.

Is your card a crossfire edition card meant to be run as a slave? Perhaps there is an issue with that and the bios that is forcing it to run on the second pcie slot. Another reason for the malfunction could be a bad pcie slot. Do you have a way to test the functionality of the orange slot?

No according to the manual both slots become 8x when the black slot is used.

    Hi there!

I have the same board and card combo (though card is an Asus). Right now its installing away on XP and no issues so far.

Just threw the system together today so its all defaults and such while I get XP on and everything burned in.
