Conroe July the 14th????

From the Inquirer:

The Core 2 Duo for desktops was scheduled to launch first on July 23rd, then pushed back to July 27th, now the launch has been brought forward. The NDA expiry for the Core 2 Duo platform is set at July 14th.

This would be fanstastic if true, let's hope it is. IMO the Inquirer is usually right about rumors That's only 10 days away!

actually wholesellers and retailers are getting them now. But there are some that won't get them until August. It's really a toss up and who ever gets them first will sell out fast. They probably won't get more of them until August. Places like BTL will get them now and hold them until the NDA expires.

I agree a bit, but Aopen isn't Intel.

And even if a lot of people are waiting for Core 2 Duo, the average guy that buy prebuilt computer don't even know what C2D is anyway. It look to be very popular online, but the "home user" that build his own computer like us isn't a very big market share.

An earlier release than originally communicated would definitely be a welcome change from the past - particularly with such hot tech.

Well, I know some companies are getting it in stock on the 7th, but I dunno if they can sell them any earlier than the 23rd.

I have a Tigerdirect outlet 15min from my house. Its funny to go in there, and un-educated people argue with the customer service about compatibility and I know all too well the customer service is correct. That aside, it would be very nice to know the date now. I could list my old proc and mobo on eBay right now if I knew C2D would be out the 17th.

Just being in stock doesn't mean available. I won't have enough money for my E6600 until the end of the month, so I will ahve to miss the new bios buggy fun!
