    Air-cooled E6600 at 4054MHz

    CPU: Conroe E6600 Stepping 5
    M/B: Asus P5W DH Deluxe
    BIOS: 0078
    VCore: 1.65v
    Memory: Corsair 8000UL
    Cooling: Tuniq Tower 120

This is the best I've managed with air cooling. I think it's okay.

    Updated speed

Yeah, 3.9GHz is probably 24/7 stable. The newer BIOS's have helped. BTW, there are no mods to the board.

Thanks. No, I would not recommend 1.65v for daily use with air cooling. 1.575-1.6v is probably a better option. My CPU will do 4GHz with 1.6v and 3.9GHz with 1.55v. But it takes 1.65-1.66v to get those last MHz.

Ok, thats what I thought... I think the max to use in daily (under liquid or air cooling) is 1.55v real (1.6 from bios...). Am I right?

Anyway what's the stepping of you e6600?

ps. nice one u've got over there

Yes, 1.55v would be good for everyday use. Even 1.6v is high.

If I set VCore to 1.6v in BIOS, AiBooster will read around 1.58v. Vdroop appears to be 0.02-0.03 under load.

Can you how us the temps after full load? 1.55-6v? Just 10 minutes after 2x prime would suffice.

I have not run dual Prime and probably won't because this is primarily a benching system. Running single SuperPi 32M at 1.6v, load temps, according to AiBooster, are in the low 40's. I'm using a Delta 120mm fan to help cool the RAM and the board. That probably helps lower the temp a few degrees. I imagine dual Prime would be in the 50's. But that's just a guess.

@ FCG - Thanks. How's your board doing?

Sweet E6600, sierra. That ASUS P5W DH complements it very nicely for 450MHz @ 1066fsb bootstrap
Any better cooling any time soon?

Thanks bachus. Probably will try single-stage cooling next weekend. The E6600 may be a better for air or water cooling. I don't know how much more I can raise the FSB given the fact that my board does not have Vmch mod.

Out of curiosity I decided to try dual-SP2004 with VCore at 1.6v. Under load, AiBooster was reading 58-59C. I'm sure it was probably higher than that. After ten minutes I decided I had enough of that. One of the disadvantages of using air cooling.

still find , one of the most overlooked , but fascinating results is this one :

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=104484

    same ram , same clock (+ 1 %) , same heatsink, E 6700

    and a double ! pi 1M run.... 12.2

    a 32M........12m 40

    on a MSI 975 ....

E 6700 ..or rumours about better performance on msi and foxconn boards ? ..

Yes, those are good times. But I was using XP SP2. He was using Server 2003 which is worth around 30 seconds in 32M. I was also running 4-4-4 timings because I was testing the FSB limits and wanted to eliminate memory as a factor. I will post some better results done with Server 2003 in the near future.

Here's an old result of mine done with XP SP2 and an E6700. Now subtract about 30 seconds from the time below and what do you get?

No offense taken. But the OS makes a big difference, especially in 32M. I've pretty much finished FSB testing, so now I can focus on other things, including getting better times.
