2 gb vs 4 gb memory

We know that going from 1 gb to 2 gb of memory is a good thing for gaming or most anything(except some benches).

How much good ,if any, would there be in going to 4 gb of memory now that both AMD and Intel new mb's can handle it?

Unless you are running on WINXP 64, the 32bit can only address 3gb anyways, so mine as well stick with 2gigs.

I have 4Gb at the moment (800MHz 3-3-3-4) and can't feel any difference with 2Gb. I've been running benchmarks to see improvement, but all scores are the same.

Im still running one here, and im startingto really feel the pinch, two is a necessity at minimum, especially with vista in my opinion

4GB or more is great for some hardcore CAD/DCC rendering. But chances are, you wont ever do it.

Well you can do 256GB running on Windows Datacenter Server R2 if you have it configured properly (along the lines of two major 'sides', each with a max of 128GB).

I would go with the 4gigs. you can have loads of low cpu consuming high memory stuf (think torrent klients) running without great loss to gaming and stuf running at the same time.

and with XS OS, you can go up to 128GB of Ram and 128 Processors.
So you can tell your mac to take it up the tail pipe
