This is from Iron Maiden album cover

I would have considered X800GTO but it's not Crossfire.
You can buy X850 CrossFire Edition later and u will have great setup for rendering: X850XE (OCed X800GTO2) + X850 CF Edition Just buy 1GB istead of 2GB and you will have money for X800GTO2

    I'm confused!
I understand getting an X850 Crossfire Edition later on... but what exactly are you recommending me to get now... X850XE or X850GTO2? What do you mean by "X850XE (OCed X800GTO2)" ?

I could put the money on the X800GTO2 instead of 2GB... but won't 2GB be better for the overall performance and all other tasks except rendering, for the system? Most people have suggested putting the money on 2GB memory then a higher card.

let us remove the bull right now.
An X1600XT will kill an X800GTO any day of the week.
    There is no denying that.

The price of reliability is the pursuit of the utmost simplicity. It is a price which the very rich find most hard to pay.

Modern Ram, makes an old overclocker miss BH-5 and the fun it was

    X1600XT yes.
    X1600Pro no.

And dont compare X1600Pro to X800GTO.
    Compare X1600Pro to X850XT.
If you dont know the X800GTO2 is OCable to X850XT (PE) with stock cooling.

    X800GTO2 overclocks to X850XT performance. (X850XT costs about 300$).
1GB is enough for your system right now.
