Sub-$100 Asus AM2 Motherboard with Heatpipe Cooling @ Newegg

It isn't the SLI board (best mainstream SLI board right now is Abit KN9 SLI), but Asus is offering a performance black pcb AM2 motherboard for a sub-$100 pricetag with the SAME copper heatpipe chipset cooling as the $232 model !!!

It goes without saying that, these won't last. If you're done wrestling with your MSI K9N, this is the one to get

Wow. No way The board is a deal either way Even without the mod.

A Single 7950GX2/X1900XTX with that would be an awesome combo for the price.

The board only has one physical x16 port, so if your up for some modding to your GPU's PCI-E connector, and the SLI mod,go fo it

Not when their bread and butter remains Intel. Interesting though that their jv subsidiary ASRock makes fantastic AMD boards.

XIPs and Xtreme Legends disliked the A8N series, but this time around many have benched on and approve of the Asus Am2 high end series.

Though kingpin's choice of Foxconn Nforce 590 SLI remains the top pick for xtreme ocing on AM2.

You guys have to be pretty color blind not to see the value proposition in Asus offering the same pcb and copper cooling at sub $100.

Me neither. They seem to be REALLY geared towards Intel, which is fine by me .. but this board does look pretty promising.

I have both the ASUS M2n32 and the Foxconn reference..both are good boards but i found the Asus a monster with the new micron dimms hitting ddr1200 a lot easier than on the Foxconn, that being said they are both awesome for AM2 and well worth a look into if you are going AM2 in the near future.

The asus actually overclocks very well, something the earlier 939 boards did not do so well with but they seem to have got this board ticking quite nicely

I have to agree with that. It makes sense to me. They seem to rock with Intel or, they seem to always have ever since the p4c800 days. But man, did their last series ASUS A8N suck.

Why is having heatpipes special The Foxconn is the fastest AM2 board on the block and it uses regular heatsinks...

Yeah I don't like them either. Clutters up the board, and makes it a total PITA to remove them and apply Ceramique or whatever your thermal paste of choice is.

Well a time ago M2N2 was the only choice, that was the first high end motherboard ready for AM2, in fact is the motherboard bundled in AMD´s review kit for 5000+ and FX-62.

But is not a good motherboard for overclocking, unless you plan on voltmodding it. I prefer Epox 570SLI motherboard (I´ve tried both), but I´m not sure if SLI 8X is ok for 7900GTX (I just have a pair of 7800).

Anyways I´m not really into heatpipes on motherboards, I don´t trust them.

    Greetings!
