If you do end up demoting it to file server status, why not also add a Rosetta @ Home cruncher title to it as well?

    psu: Tagan TG530-U15, 530 Watt (120mm fan)
cpu: Intel Core 2 Duo (Conroe), E6600 (maybe the 6700 depending on the max fsb for 965/975 platform and/or if retail conroes go over 4ghz on water)
    mem: OCZ OCZ28002048ELDCGE-K, 2048 MB, DDR2, PC6400
hdd: Western Digital Raptor, 74 GB, 10000 rpm, 16 MB, Serial ATA150
mb: Asus P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP, Retail (just for the nb and mosfet cooling)
gpu: Asus EN7900GT /2DHT, 256 MB, DDR3, PCI Express x16 (prolly going to try the vcore mod to transform it into a semi gtx)

this would set me back € 1272,25 vat included, which seems quite enough

So, do you look down on those with less money than you or those, even with jobs, still fit into the category of "dirt poor" ?

whatever CPU is near the $500 price point, is the one I am most likely gonna look for.

    what board I will use?
no idea yet, but I would definatly perfer DFI.

same ram, same videocard, hard drives, psu and all.
