A little guide for Intel 975x BX bad-axe from BIOS Screenies

    hi all, as promise,
I know some friends just walk from AMD to the "dark side"
    No wonder, same as my first time, I have no idea how the intel gonna work;
I am kinda lucky that I got "Victor Wang"
walked me through all the hassles I could have.
Here are some simple pictures I took from my BIOS screen; hope this helps

First of all; this is when you set the jumper on the configure mode; please leave at what you see

    here:

Now, on the main tab page shows here; the setting like this will give you ram:cpu for 1:1; the real

OC page is not from here yet.

Please remember to disable this cpuid value limit.

well, here we go, this section is what you need though

let's start from CPU and Chipset:

Again, for the first part, leave as what you see here but you can set any vcore you want up to

    1.6v.

for the lower section, be careful for the OC percentage, it will NOT just OC your CPU,
be sure that you set your memory properly on next page, or your system WON'T boot
I promise you; also for the MCH Voltage, if you are not high fsb freak, 1.65v and FSB 1.395v

would do it very good up to 500mhz ~525mhz for me already

well, this part is the most confused part. Some users ask me; "so what can I set for this..I wanna

x:x...weii, now, think about this, if Conroe fsb is 1066mhz, and you set your ram 533mhz

regardless it's 667mhz or whatever rated...it's all counted as 1:1, if you set your ram as 667mhz

here, that would be 4:5, but be careful, when you set your ram running faster than your cpu, and

you also set host burn in percentage for whatever number is, be sure your memory can handle

    what you set for it.

I hope this simple guide would help those people who just new to intel.

    Nice pics

And if system won't post, place BIOS config jumper at 1-2 and boot again

Now the question is what are good/safe voltages on air/water and phase for 24/7

I've been running 1.475V for 2 weeks so far no problem

but be very careful for those who use phase change, this board is "extremely hard to insulate, once if it got condensation, it will die immediately, no exception at all. Trust me.

    scarying me here hehe

would lacquer spray + liquid electrical tape on top side and back side board like this http://i4memory.com/phasechange/kayl.../NF4_UT_SLIDR/

    +

neoprene foam back and top side http://i4memory.com/phasechange/kayl...F4_UT_SLIDR_2/

and cork screw tape in the hard to reach areas

Would that be enough to insulate against condensation on Intel Conroe board ?

Not that my unit is too cold only between -48C to -44C no load evap, or -40C idle and -34C load evap temps or -20C to +8C load temps in windows with FX-57 @3.5Ghz at 1.6-1.648v....

What's the max fsb u can go with MCH at 1.750v?? i can only reach 406fsb.
I need fsb because i have a E6300, and i can do 2841mhz with only 1.4v (what the bios monitor hardware reads).
I think my cpu can go higher but the mobo wont let it, i put the multi at 6x and tested, the max i could reach was the same 406fsb and for that i need to put the MCH volts at max.

Edit: Thanks for the guide Onepagebook.

This is because of those stupid caps by the socket that almost all Conroe boards have. Can't mount bigger air coolers, water blocks, dice containers etc. And hard to insulate

Nah....it's not a big prob if you have the right materials and KNOW how to insulate I use 1/4" adhesive backed closed cell foam around the socket and squeeze some in the area between the socket and the caps. Then fill in all the gaps by the caps with cork tape. Shouldn't be too much of a prob, but I've yet to boot it.....

It's similar to seal string only in strips. The only place I know of to buy it @ is Johnstone supply. You'll either have to make friends there or have a contractor's license to buy anything there

Adhesive backed closed cell foam is the same as nephrene, armaflex and k-flex except that it is adhesive?

Yep ....there's actually some better stuff that has the consistency of closed cell foam mixed with open cell foam but I don't recall the name of it atm. But yeah, the sheet insulation does come in handy....

Great work bro! WIll help a bunch of peeps on their feet!

I second the notion that th boad is a to insulate!!! Especially with the LGA sockets/ metal bracket- being lovers of condensation

Mind posting pictures of how you guys Insulate. I am getting one of these boards soon. Hopefully I will be able to run it on dry ice or phase change.

The link doesn't work for me , but like S7 said it's 1/4" that is good thickness, because armaflex and others foam tapes usually it's a 1/8" thick. In fact, i don't see easy mount any of my 3" containers with that caps so close to the socket, i've been working in a 2 1/2 container that i hope that can fit it.

Thanks for the Bad Axe guide Kevin

    Just a few questions :

    - How can I change the multplier to 8x in the bios (need to find the FSB limit of my mobo) ??

    - In my Bad Axe seems impossible to read the correct vcore on windows and even more strange if run SpeedFan or Sandra to check voltages and temperatures vcore drops to default (1.2v) ..any sugestion ??

    - Is this temperatura OK for 1.500v (set in bios) and 1.456 (read in bios) with single phase change (VapoLS)? what temperatures you will see in bios with your single phase change ??

    Thanks

    hi pedro,

    in this thread

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=101791

fcg stated that this board reads 15-20c higher.

When i use speedfan it resets the Vcore to default and i need to go into maintenance mode to be able to change the vcore values again.
In my bios above Vcore there is a option to change the multi but that option is not in Onepagebook bios, dunno why!!!?
On the other end, i cant raise by fsb above 406mhz even with MCH voltage at 1.725.
I set my multi to 6x and cant do better than 406fsb .

    Pedro,
    you're very welcome,

you can change that multi. by using CrystalCPUID I think.
THe vcore reading is about the same as I got from the bios reading

Ya I think the temp would be ok , I even see someone got like almost positive for the set up on SS.

    welll...

You can change multi in bios above vcore selection

At least it works with B0 conroe chips and rev 304 board
