Intel D975XBX / Pentium D 930 Temperature Readings

I have a D975XBX with a Pentium D 930 and the temperatures Im seeing are kind of scary. Its not overclocked at all and I'm running a Zalman CNPS7700. It idles at 50*C and gets to 70*C when I run prime95 on it. I was wondering what everyone else with a bad axe is getting temp wise. I think this board is giving me bad temp readings. What is everyone else getting?

That board reads at least 15-20C too high.

yes, look at the temp, subtract 15-20C in your head....

I used to have a cnps7700 and that thing was not the best I thought it was.

My old 660 couldn't even do 4.2ghz with it because of temps being too high. I bought a Tuniq Tower 120 and I was able to hit a max of 4.34ghz with (see link here).

I also had another cnps and replaced it with another Tuniq Tower and in both cases both CPUs reported a nice drop temps in air. My suggestion is to ditch the cnps for a TT120.

I don't know why any other 120mm wouldn't fit though, per specifications on the manufacturer:

120mm (W) x 120mm (H) x 25mm (D)

It looks like a standard sized fan (though you can't use the uber-wide 120mm versions). Here's the a picture I found on the web, showing the heatsink from the top:

so my Intel BOXD975XBXLKR ATX Intel Motherboard and Intel® Pentium® Processor Extreme Edition 965 when i go to the bios it say it start 60 to 77 i have to take out 20 right but some time when i run the pc it keep beping i know its becoze of the temp of the cpu is there a way i can lett it stop peep at the biging ah am using the Zalman CNPS 9500-TA

Any 120mm fan can be used.., but you will not see any big improvements... just more noise..
Bought the TT 120mm with 3-way adjustment of rpm (from 1200 - 2500), and could not see any major improvements when I was testing my 830D/805D(with TT Thyphoon)
Well.. the MB temps dropped a little more though (more airflow over MB/NB).
Zalman CNPS-series is not recommended for dual core Intel.. they just don't cut it..
Either a "monster heatpipe-cooler" like TT Thypoon, Scyte Ninja, Tunic Tower etc.. or high-end Water Cooling should be used. especially when OC'ing..

You'd think you could get a board that would report accurate CPU temps for $230. I guess I'll exchange it for an Asus.
