    Conroe on pre-order in Sweden

A Swedish retailer/company has Conroe on pre-order and the prices are spectacular (meaning very good) compared to AMD's offerings.

I just cancelled my AM2 order and will rather wait a couple of days extra to get something that bests what I would've had, at nearly the same price too.

    http://shg.biz/produkter/list2.asp?katid=1714

476 bucks for a Conroe at 2.4GHz and 4MB cache. Its a steal

The ETA is 07/23, but I don't believe them.

By the way, this is usual in Europe. Recommended price in the USA is not European's.

For Example: MSRP of Conroe E6600 is 316US$.
    1 US$ = ~0.80€

Then, MSRP of Conroe in Europe should be 252,8€... but unfortunately that's no true.

I don't know why the hardware retailers think that 1US$=1€. Probably the cheaper european retailers will sell it at about 316€ (395US$).

Scandinavia is expensive, in everything... =) - A great example... - a 10-15min drive in a cab, thats about 50$..... (In Denmark).. - even 1 liter fuel for the car is CLOSE to 2$

Yes, It's true, but in Spain (where I live) the wage is very low if you compare to nordic countries.

Some Euros have 20% taxes in. So Euro is about 20% better, but have a 20% tax already in the price you pay, so about 1:1.

Anyway, $476 seam pricey when they are announced at $316... But it's the cheapest price you will find. retailer need to make money after all. For comparison, it's supposed to be the same price as the Pentium D 950 right now

In Canada, it should be $399CND ($316us = $346cnd, so it's more expensive too)

Varies ALOT from contry to contry, Europe is NOT like the USA with states, but independent contries.

VAT varies from 4.0-30.0% I think... - While TAX from 0%?-7x%...

EDIT: I think sweden / norway is 25% like Denmark... @ VAT

Probably going to be cheaper to import from the States, even with import tax.

I just wanted to say why some people think 1$us = 1euro.. because of the taxes in most countries. (most are around 20%) that's all

Yeah it's true about the taxes, it's 25 % in Sweden. 1 USD is something like 7.5 SEK. The prices are almost always listed with the taxes included in Sweden (prices for individuals) (while it's the opposite in the US, right?). That's the reason why it looks so expensive AFAIK.

What you get is 3480/(1.25 x 7.5) = $371, not too far from the listed $316 given the fact that it's not even available yet.
Just compare the price of another popular CPU, the X2 3800+ from the same store. It costs $298 + taxes, pretty close to the listed $303.

The price for the C2 will of course go down when it actually becomes available, this store is just making some extra money on those nutcases who are afraid that they won't a hold of one if they're not ordering one now, or, they think that it just "might" show up a month earlier..
    translated:
If you place an order early, you can one of the first who'll get this CPU!
    Oh really?

    translated:
Intel will launch a new chipset, especially made for Conroe. Older motherboards with Intel chipsets will probably support Conroe - although they'll need a BIOS update in most cases....
Either I just was pessimistic about older mobos working with C2, or SHG is just full of it. I mean, not even the quite new 975 XBX R.302 works with only a BIOS update.

I think they'll get them at the date that is set. They've had the AOPen i975Xa-YDG in stock several times but its quickly sold out.

SHG cant give precise ETA's. With opteron's they were giving some serious headaches and their inability to give proper ETA's.
In short, both AMD and NVIDIA discovered that their next-generation graphics cards are superior to each others' last-generation graphics cards.

Thats not true.. - Or atleast the danish section havnt, and I belive the danish section is the original one...
They've delayed it several times, havnt had any yet.. - Mine died due too fast heatburst after CPU's been cooled by phasechange, cap fell off... (exact same cap that caused Tyrou's board to die..)
    - Anyhow, I wanted to buy one from SHG, but they never came, I've sold my T2600 ES yesterday, and now Im awaiting E6600 or X6800

Now that's what I call a pre-order. If you want to give them your money 6+ weeks early, go for it.

yes, but you are commiting to buy at a HIGHER price right now. I can guarantee the price for preorder is well above Intel MSRP and will only come down once the chip is released by the hundreds of thousands. you are only costing yourself more money. companies like this WANT you to preorder because it secures their sales of the chip early and at inflated prices.

Pre-order prices are always higher. Once the chips are launched, and all the mainstream suppliers are selling them, prices will drop. It's the same when new-gen gfx cards are launched, pre-order prices are always much higher than after the card is launched.
There are plenty of people willing to pay top prices, just to be sure of getting one at launch.
