Lovely. So what is the ETA to retail?

Modern Ram, makes an old overclocker miss BH-5 and the fun it was
I just realized that they tested it against FX-60 on 939.
If they had used the fx-62 on am2, the sisoft sandra mem bandwith would have been clearly faster than conroe's .

Memory bandwidth or not, this is the lowest-end chips with 2MB cache and they beat an $800 AMD in 3D. InsanityOriginally Posted by perkam
In addition, they have MUCH more overclocking potential.
Conroe = doomsday of AMD in the enthusiast (non-fanboy) community.

so, you think amd will cut all prices so the fx60 is less than the E6400?

heh, i dont think AMD can do anything to counter this, all they have is for K8L to come out sooner maybe then they will have a chance
Am I the only one who can't see the power consumption table on page 18? I checked the original page too, didn't work either.
Are there any power consumption numbers available right now?
Have you guys seen the performance of C2 2 MB and 4 MB compared yet?
I thought K8L was a high end core, what will AMD produce to compete with anything that comes from Intel and cost less than $400?

Looks nice, might as well pick up XE edition and the server version of it.

lol...i doubt you'd see it under $700 in the next year or so let alone $240..:-pOriginally Posted by VulgarHandle
although, I wonder whether or not they will lower the $1000 price tag a little bit...you gotta figure alot of people will still by AMD even though conroe will be on top, but I wonder how much business they will lose..should be interesting to see

No higher res then 1024xx and no AA or AF?
I want to see the difference when playing games..
Everything extra is bad!
Well... I got to admit AMD is getting spanked right now, but i'd prefer to wait and see what K8L brings...
I'm not a fanboy, hell i'm running 2 intel rigs now and ZERO AMD rigs at the moment but your comparing a NEW GEN chip to a precius gen chip, the new one is on a smaller fab procces and offcourse made to beat the other into a tiny pulp...
AND btw... the mem benchmarks should've been run on a AM2 platform. apparently mem bandwidth is through the roof there which is good for certain apps.
So i'll wait till K8L to do anything
plus the competition k8L will bring will hopefully = lower prices
That would make too much sense and render the CPUs equal due to GPU limits. It's much more "fun" to show neat benchmark scores that have zero relevance in the real world when it comes to gaming.Originally Posted by Ubermann

Stick the res to 1600x1200, add some AA, and watch the scores be pretty much even.
EDIT, look at Fear. GPU intensive game, and the scores are identical.

That's about the only situation that it would matter and even then resolution and game may make it irrelevant.

Not really, in fact it would be like saying that nVidia was getting spanked by ATi last August by the ATi SuperChip the R580.. that oh yeah.. was no where to be found in retail..Originally Posted by Entity_Razer

again way off reality... close the site, its rubbish same as hexus
AMD should just discontinue the FX line to save itself more embarassment. Then again, Intel continued with their XE editions even though some mid end AMD64's beat them. I guess the main difference is the XE's performance we're close, whereas the FX line is just getting killed by a 300 dollar cpu. The former Ferrari of cpus have turned into an overpriced Civic.

Uh.. obviosly they don't tweak, don't change LOD, don't try to find the best-performing driver. It's fine as long as it's consistent accross the board.Originally Posted by duploxxx
