    Opteron Temp offset question

I was using Central Brain ID

    http://cbid.amdclub.ru

I have a Opteron 165 0550 VPMW offset is -7C...idle temp is 30C, load temp is 40c on water

so does this mean load temp is really 47C

    I have a 170 0550 VPMW offset -4C... idles 32/33C..load is 42/43C..so real load temp is 47C as well???

my 165's offest si 9C does this means that i should add 9C to the reported laod temp that i got from MBM5 ?

    i doubt that

so my cpu now @ 1.15 volt MBM5 report its load is 40C the the real load is 49C @ 1.15

i am sure there is something wrong here

my offsite is 9C not -9C

does urs report as -7C or 7C

it reports -4 C or -7C...not sure why the minus sign..but pretty sure this means the temp is underreported by this amount...

    hoping to get confirmation

then this means that my mobo report the load temp with 9C extra

which means that my cpy's real load temp is 31C not 40C as mbm5 reports

now i hope that ur theory is right

    lol

Nextsensor reports 30C idle and 5C offset. It cannot possibly be 25C as that would be sub-ambient I imagine.

how are you finding the offst, by comparing the cpu temp to the aux temp? if so im over reporting by 13c

EDIT: nvm found it offset is 7c

    Thermal Offset
The Thermal Offset field defines the thermal diode offset. It is used to correct the measurement made by an external temperature sensor. With the diode offset, the thermal diode can be used to ensure the processor is within its functional temperature limits. Each CPU has unique diode offset. For example, a temperature sensor reports 92°C, the thermal diode offset is 22°C, so the actual temperature of the processor is calculated by simple formula: 92-22=70°C. Note, that 70 is maximum even when case temperature specification is not 70°C (see illustration). When the thermal diode measurement minus diode offset equals the maximum control temperature (TCONTROL max), the processor has reached its case temperature specification (TCASE max).
The maximum control temperature is provided in the appropriate power and thermal data sheet. The relationship between TCASE max and TCONTROL max is described in
    the appropriate functional data sheet.

    so what's the bottom line?

if you have thermal offset of -7C does that mean subtract 7C or add?

-7 would mean add 7 to your temp, 7 would mean subtract 7 from your temp

so you mean to tell me that my 170 opty is running at 40C idle at 1.275V under watercooling...NO WAY! my thermal probe says 26C think math or data is incorrect.

offset means how much the mobo is reporting too low (-x) or too high (x). e.g: Experts report about 10°C too low (-10 offset) so add 10°C to the reported temperature.

interesting.. but the report was same with Expert and DFI SLI-DR in CBI80 ( i have just switch back from Expert to my old SLI-DR) my ofsset is 2°C.. but like the central Brain id report a bad temp for CPU.. it's report the temp i got on the PWMIC.. not the CPU... i have not idea if this can be real.. will say after flash 10times the Expert bios..the temp report have increase a lot by itself, for finally stay close to the temp i got on the SLI DR...(-2°C delta compared to DFI NF4 "standard".)
