This is getting beyond insane.
Coolaler: is that an FSB wall I see at 450MHz? You don't seem to be moving up from that.

OMG. This is so ing fast!
It seems that the CPU is hitting the limit - or is it in fact the board/FSB?
WHat cooling are you using for the Northbridge?
Outstanding work!

when I see stuff like this... I honestly don't even think AMD could possibly do anything to combat this thing...
with Conroes already getting near 5 ghz, and AMD still stuck at the 4 ghz mark... yet conroes are just destroying 4 ghz A64's even at much lower clocks... I can't even guess how a A64 can ever compete with these things... it would take like a 5 ghz A64 to even start...
Intel is just on fire with these things

Wow, a 90% overclock on a brand new architecture. LN2 or not, that is still quite a feat. This is equivalent to a 7.2Ghz P4 from a 3.8Ghz stock core, and Netbust was much more mature at that point.

No doubt that sub-zero amd records will fall to conroe rigs on air.

I meant in terms of overclocking ability. Obviously, performance wise, a Conroe absolutely decimates the P4 in most tasks.
Mind you, Intel is obviously leaving room for future speed bumps, but for a brand new architecture on the earliest revisions/steppings, this is remarkable. Usually the first couple batches of chips on a new architecture are terrible overclockers.

With the more recent Intel chips, it's not really like that. Conroe has an advantage, becuase Intel used the 65nm process for Presler and Yonah so it's already mature. It would be interesting to see how another stepping would affect that power consumption and scability of Conroe though. With Cloverton being based on Woodcrest, a C0 stepping would help the entire Core family.

I was referring to the architecture, not the process. For Intel, 65nm can now be considered a mature process. The Core architecture, however, is not.
As far as your other examples, they aren't all that great. The Presler was more or less just a die shrink, so the architecture remained the same. Yonah, while a somewhat major architectural upgrade, had a FSB wall (which seemed to be chip-based, not MoBo based, but I could be wrong).
I'm not saying it's a miracle or anything, but it is still quite an achievement to have such early chips do so well when it comes to overclocking potential and associated stability. Computer simulations only tell you so much; how the silcon actually performs with real volts going through it is something else entirely.

OK, I gotta ask: what cooling on the NB and what PLL chip is on that board???? Cab you give me/us the PLL manufacturer/model please? 460FSB is crazy!
VERY awesome coolaler, I've never seen anything like it. I was never a big fan of MSI mobos, but this one looks unstoppable!
