    now what ?

    my system specs are in my sig, what can i do to increase my production and how can i config it to only run @ low priority

    First off, thanks for joining! You should use the latest windows SSE2 version from the page you linked to, its an optimised client so it gives higher benchmark scores, means more points for you and team XS. Just exit BOINC, unzip the files into your BOINC directory and then restart BOINC. R@H already runs at low priority by default, so you dont need to worry there. It uses 100% CPU by default but check the 'your preferences' button i nthe projects tab of BOINC manager for more configuration options

    whabt about the client in this page http://calbe.dw70.de/boincw.html

    why should i use it and how ?
    The work units will usually rin @low priority by default. So they slide out of the way when you start up a game etc. The link you posted are optimizations. So you 1) download the optimizations for SSE2. 2)Close downBOINC. 3) Extract the downloaded zip into your BOINC program folder C:\Program Files\BOINC\. If it asks you to overtwrite... go ahead and overwite the files! 4) Restart BOINC. 5) Go to Advanced>Run CPU benchmarks. Now this is the point where you need to have your machine running nicely... as if you doing a SUPER PI bench... The higher your benches here the highere your score afterwards. Then the work units should start off after the benches...

    EDIT: Atomic Pineapple got there while I was writing this.... grrrrrr

    Nope, the client will just execute two work units simultaneously! If you check in the tasks tab you should see it running 2 work units.

    5/23/2006 8:27:08 PM||Benchmark results:
    5/23/2006 8:27:08 PM|| Number of CPUs: 2
    5/23/2006 8:27:08 PM|| 4128 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU
    5/23/2006 8:27:08 PM|| 13479 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU
    5/23/2006 8:27:08 PM||Finished CPU benchmarks

    so now i should ONLY run the text client and forget about it and Don't start the GUI BoincMAnager , right ?

    sorry for asking too much

    Lightbulb Some other notes

    to XS / Rosetta! Good bench

    1. ALWAYS UPDATE after running a BENCH

    2. Yes run just the text client and leave boincmgr down (unless you want to what it is doing, then close it afterward).

    also under the "Projects" tab of the GUI for BOINC Manager under Team XtremeSystems will be showing up.

    if you choose to run the cmd line of it you will want to check here after you return some work

    If you have rosetta working go to http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/te...php?teamid=727 and then hit 'Join this team'

    If you don;t these are then screenies that you will be giuded through....... First is rosetta attach screenie.....
    Then after you do that... then a browser will open up to help you find a team... and you can then search to that team page and hit join!

    You can forbid Boinc to connect to the internet, but this way you will have to update it manually.
    Activity -> Suspend network activity

    To update: Projects -> Click on Rosetta -> Click update on the left

    You need to update your BOINC preferences, click the 'your preferences' button in the projects tab edit you BOINC properties and decrease the 'connect to network about every' time.
