What are the Conroe chips supposed to retail for?

I'll never personally be able to validate buying a $1K chip, but I'm certainly planning to make the switch from AMD to Intel when Conroe arrives.

If the XE is clocking much better than regular Conroe, I'll sell my 955XE + G1975X and get a Conroe XE + D975XBX.

E6600 or E6700 depending on which clocks higher on air/water. Not worth the cash if the E6700 cant clock that much higher than the others. Time will tell

E6600 or 6700, depends on price in Norway.

The INTEL board is quite decent. All the World Records being set nearly daily are on the INTEL board. It HAS good OC options!

but it has no vcore adjustments, and none of the other boards are production... that pretty much means that all the 'world records'(god i hate that term) are being set on the ONLY board available... i have a feeling the asus and dfi boards are going to leave the intel boards quite far behind.

actually it does have Vcore adj... you just need to use the iNtel BIOS tool. And there's a pin mod to give 1.45v also...
So, IMHO... the Intel board will be 90% the board as the DFI or ASUS models WHEN they come along. That's not bad.

90% of consumers dont know how to use intel bios tool or even know that it exists. and pin mod? thats very risky on a 775 IMO. i will never buy another intel board again, they dont offer near the performance imo that an asus or other manufacturer does.

I will look at the Dual socket Greencreek results . Using 2 woodcrest cpu's and 6GB of FB-dimms DDR667. If the results look good I will go this route. Hopefully Asus will have a performance type workstation board out right away. I just like the idea of /Dual sockets/ dual cores /dual fsb memory controllers and hopefully/ dual pci-e gpu's. If the performance is lacking it will be XE model for me . Using the Intel Bad AXE M/B

E6600. As long as it does 333x9 I'll be happy. Although I think I will get some DDR2 800 just in case it does 400x9

Who cares about the consumers? You and I know that this tool exists, so why not utilize it and get good OCs rather than waste time worrying about "The common consumers", hell the common consumers dont even know what OC is...

Probably, not, but the board certainly has enough to get good OCs. It was enough to get my Presler to 5.1 Ghz (Sucide) on air....Also you can ask quite a few people on this forum and they will say that the Intel board is more stable and robust then the ASUS one. My friends P5LD2 has more bios options than my D955XBK but he cant OC anywhere near as good as mine. Intel boards didnt OC well in the past, but thats changing...
