Will this 2-piece Alu tube work for LN2 ? Updated With Results!!

So i made this base piece at work from scrap alu. the holes are .400" deep, leaving about .500" between them and the bottom. I know a place that welded my aluminum intake manifold, so im going to see if he can do this. But, i dont know if the thermal expansion/contraction will break the weld. I milled about a .150" grove around for he tube to fit into on the base to ease the welding process. Me and a buddy @ work are going to Ln2 an 805d one of those Asus p2wd5 what ever boards. We're not going for any world records, jsut want to have some fun.

ALright so iits about freakin time i got my tube back. Took the welder 3 months to finaly get around to it. Apparently the guy that took the tube broke his arm and such and what ever. Its cool, i finally got it back.

I ended up trying the p5b deluxe that didn;t work with my de-lidded e6400, and got an 805 D for $75. I got to 5.4ghz, but could not bench. I think my PCPnC 510 Deluxe was running out of juice.

Here's some pics. I don't have the 5.4ghz screen shot cause i haven;'t hooked that hd bcak up to pull the pics from, but i've got a 5.02ghz bios shot.

I onyl ran a super pi @ 4.6ghz and it was doing this CRAZY thing. A 1m run would take about 30 seconds, but the time would end up reading like 5minutues. The first pass showed like 15seconds, then 26 seconds, and it was just weird. Maybe the chip is crapped, but its ok. It was fun.

I think i may have been able to get a higher screen shot with my ds3 since its got higher voltage settings.

My Ln2 delivery method included a plastic tube to the tube from the tank. I had basically an endless supply of ln2 @ work. Dont worry, it's been approved by the boss man, so im cleared.

It was a bunch of fun!! I'm going to try the ds3 next weekend.

Well cool. I went ahead and drilled 10 more hole for a little more surface area.

Your base is still quite thick, I would suggest milling off a 1/4" off the bottom.

well, turns out my #'s were a little off. the base is .750" thick. and the new err 12 holes are .600" deep... maybe a little too deep but im not too concerned.

Question about cpu selection though. Initial plan was 805d, but i've heard that the 900 series are doing well too, and can be had for maybe $60 more for a 920 d. Which should we use for this ln2 project?
