Good comparo. Interesting results, and clearly some hard work gone into it.

But may i ask, why does Merom get lumbered with 2gb of RAM running at 4-4-3-8@380mhz when Conroe gets just 1gb of RAM, 4-3-2-4@460mhz.

Is this a reporting error? Cos otherwise, it seems conroe has a pretty massive advantage in memory over Merom, in latencies alone.

Or am i thinking too AMD, and latencies don't matter?

I really thaught Conroe was going to get much higher performance due to the higher FSB, but it seems like I was wrong. Maybe it's a different scene in multimedia/decoding/encoding.

I really appreciate your work Coolaler, we know much more about these processors now!
I know it's a bit much to ask for but could you compare Merom and Conroe in:
*Winrar -packing and unpacking
*Mp3/wma/divx etc.

And maybe a Firefox benchmark? Does anybody know where to get that benchmark?
