well, I wanted to buy a P5WD2 but apperantly there are some problems (mainly money problems)
so, what MOBO will be the best for me, at a budget of about 100$ from newegg?
(for OC)

No P5WD2? Too much $$$, well how about the best next thing to it, the ABIT AW8 955X Motherboard for $110. Can't beat that. Sure $10 more but it's definitely worth it.

yeah Ive just seen that one, looking good...Originally Posted by Nasgul
tell me, what is the best OC that I will be able to do with that system:
Intel Pentium D805
ABIT AW8
G.SKILL 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 667
EVGA 7900GT KO (that one doest matter, just wanted to tell XD)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DONT TOUCH THE AW8!!!!!!!!!!! it has a hardware fault wich stops it booting at anything over 170Mhz bus speed with a D805. I sent mine back and got an Asus P5LD2 Deluxe instead now running 200x20.

epox has a nice 945p chipset board that has a 5 phase power suply and some cool extra's, it spports crossfire with the lastest bios as well. mine will be here by next week im hoping with an 805
WOW, 4Ghz, what cooling system do you use?Originally Posted by Atomicpineapple

I need an answer, Which MOBO will be the best for a F805 at the price of about 100$?
just found out that the ABIT AW8 (that looked really good) limits the OC to 3.4Gz
and the Epox is out of stock at newegg, so, what MOBO whould I buy!?
I would say get the Asus P5WD2. It will give you the ability to run your rams faster and is a solid overclocker. The extra few dollars spent will let you sleep better at night, believe me. I have the following boards:
Asus P5LD2 - overclocks to 200x20 just fine, but board gets hot as hell.
Gigabyte - Gigabyte GA-8I945P-G - vdroops like crazy - not recommended at all
Abit Aw8 - said 170mhz issue
Asus P5WD2-Premium - rocks - running at 266mhz with my 930 right now without a hitch at 33C all day long with some fan blowing over different components.
I would say get the P5WD2 and do the vdroop pencil mod and you will be computing happilly in no time.
I'll second The P5WD2, Excellent board
With Vdroop mod done I can run my 805 at 205 fsb

How about a P5WD2 refurb? Link Here for $110.Originally Posted by -Blaze-

I'm still very skeptical about the reports on the AW8, I don't see anyone at egg's review saying they have had issues with the AW8, so far no 1 egg for the board.
But since that ultimately I like ASUS better than any other brand, I think I may go for a refurb......Premium though.
I'm not doing no modds though, I'm affraid I'll screw up something and be $130 out.

Try to get P5LD2 (but not -SE ! ) This mobo is very fast and quite cheap.
yeah, this is the one that im taking. (uness someone else will give me a better suggestion)Originally Posted by TaPaKaH
well, after a long day of searching, comparing and consulting, I have decided ti get the ASUS P5LD2
what do you think? is this the right choice?
I think you should be ok as long as you have good fan blowing on the mofsets and put in some Arctic silver 5 under the stock chipset heatsinks.
Well, if you haven't bought the 805 yet, Fry's has thosety ECS's bundled with an 805 right now for $139. Now, before you all jump me, I say run the 805 on the ECS board, and save up for a Conroe-capable solution when they ship.
That's like a $19 board.![]()
Why on earth buy a non-upgradable board? Wait for Conroe capability before buying a decent 775 mobo, IMO, and in the interim spend your money on better RAM.
I'm actually considering this unless I can find a rev 304 Bad Axe.

and why is my board non-upgradable? I was sure that the Conroe will be socket 775
Conroe requires a different VRM spec than current boards. S775 boards will support conroe provided they have VRM11 spec voltage controlling. See freecableguys conrow mb clarification thread for details.

The Abit AW8 has booting issues with the 805, but does the Abit NI8-SLi have any? Or the Abit AA8XE Fatal1ty?

How does the P5ND2-SLI perform/overclock compared to the P5LD2?. Cause its a bit cheaper here (about $15 - $30AUD, im a cheapass :P)
