Why so much negativity to AMD, if it wasn't for A64, Intel wouldn't have pushed so hard in their R&D, competition benefits all, Conroe will push AMD, and so on and so forth, I for one and happy to see it come back to Intel, only because they should always held the crown with their size and budget, but 2 giants is better than one, because we benefit... I guess i don't get all the bashing of brands, but I will be getting a conroe as soon as i can!!!! So i for one can't wait to take a nice leap forward! Time to retire my opty to my server!!!

To be fair, its not really negativity, AMD won't be able to beat Conroe until they get their 65nm's into the channel. Its just a honest truth, besides AMD had been getting lazy anyway, they needed a kick up the arse.
I do agree that Intel should have been able to strike back earlier, but the Conroe is a well thought out CPU. And I'm pretty sure it couldn't have been done on 90nm.
Seeing these results, I`m guessing Conroe is going to very hard to get when its finally released. Dell and other PC giants are going to get most of the available chips.
The rest will be slim pickings for every PC performance nut on the planet...lol

Dell will get the best prices and volumes as a reward for staying faithfull to Intel. Core 2 duo will be available as retail box in good volumes just don't be surprised if the retailer deciedes to mark them up compared to the list price for the first 2-3 months untill the massive Intel volumes start rolling in.
You will need a mobo that can make 378 FSB to reach that frequency. Not many boards can make that without mods.

Is great seeing how far reaches our tiny friend Conroe with default vcore.
It's May10th,2006; July 10th is two months away; June 6th is date for 965 motherboard launch.July=Conroe
August=Meron

1/4 of a year before release so these are not something your going to get anytime soon.
It only begins shipping in July. Doesn't mean it'll start retailing then (although you'll probably be able to get one relatively easily by that time if you know anyone)
We just need an P5WD2 compatible ( new Revision hopefully ) with conroe and job done... Mine does over 380 with stock Vmch... P5WD2-E overclocks lower usually... ( i needed over 1,9v to get 390 FSB)

Actually its launch in July not shipping. Woodcrest will launch in June and yes people have the actual non ES parts in their hands right now. Even if conroe launches in the end of July you will see retail box core 2 duo's on sale in Japan by mid july.
