The answers are as simple as that. The SPD-ROM can't change the limit of the hardware itself. If the chips' limit is, let's say, ~260Mhz, then programming the SPD might change something if it includes weaker timings, but it won't change anything concerning the max. overclock if it doesn't change any timings. The SPD_ROM just includes info about the RAM sticks and the timings it needs, nothing magical about it.
oh ok thanks alot ! =D.

The problem is that the taiphoon doesnt see the bad mem it's invisible it find's only the good mem the other bad stick is like it's invisible and i'ts only on my DFI U-D that i can boot with both sticks in. and i have saved a dump from the good mem and the spd is ok on that, it's just that the bad one dont show up.

It may already be in this thread and I missed it, but there is Ver 2.0 out.

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/M...n-Burner.shtml

Thaiphoon Burner is the first known software that provides the easiest way to edit and flash SPD of RAM in Windows without using any additional hardware components! The second version supports 8 new Intel ICH7 series peripheral controllers, nVidia nForce 3 250GB and MCP55 controllers. In addition, Thaiphoon features an enhanced HEX Editor that enables to move the cursor by arrow keypad.

I am running three sticks of ram on my NF7-S, two of which are OCZ UTT 512's and the third a gig of PQI turbo. They run together on the latest Abit bios at 200 mhz with 7-3-3-2 timings. They will not run any other speed without errors, even 201 mhz.

The timings on the OCZ were not matched to the stickers on the ram.It is marked 7-3-3-2.5 but the spd says 8-4-4-2.5. The PQI Turbo's SPD is 5-2-3-2. I am aware that the fastest timings on an NF2 are 7-3-3 and all sticks are capable of diong that up to 216 on their own at default voltage. I am thinking that the vast difference in SPD's are keeping them from going past 200 together.

Do you think that flashing all of them to an SPD with the same timings would allow them to run better together and pass the 200 mhz barrier?

people. you still need to watch out with re-programming youre spd with other spd's then original. There are second spd's that you CAN'T reprogram but still work! this can coz problems, where i dont want to be responsable for!

It is not uncommon for the SPD timings to be more lax than what the ram is capable of running in order to increase the compatibility with more motherboards. You first boot at the more relaxed timings per the SPD, then you adjust them through the BIOS to the more aggressively rated timings. I don't think this should be a concern for you.

You know wht they say about where angels fear to tread. I did try several flashes of the 512's without any help for my situation and did notice that on one module the part number would change while the other stayed the same. Strange that that would happen but did not seem to have any affect. Great program though for someone with serious compatibility problems or dead ram.

Resoldered SPD chip, rewrote SPD and saved bh5 module

But this is only if your SPD is totally dead.

Thumbs down

maybe you guys can help me

i've got 2x512 Twinmos AA4T CH5
they run 255 2-3-2-5 with good alpha timings
but there is a problem with them ..
my pc doesn't want to boot with them everytime (DFI gives me 3 red leds error)

sometimes it will turn on ... usually after a long wait before pushing power button (around 30minutes) .. then i can do every thing (they run normaly as allways at 2-3-2-5-1T rock stable) accept powering down my machine ... 'cause they will not boot again :/

both stick act like they were dead on other motherboards
when i stick them in yellow slots and some good ram in orange slots, system boots up perfectly but doesn't see those AA4T sticks .. however CPU-Z can read SPD from every stick...
http://chaos.dracopc.com/pub/ch-5_problem.png

i tried to reprogram spd with thaipoon .. but after reboot they are like they where before ..

anybody can help me?

p.s: sorry for my english

Do you run your DFI with 2 x 512 and 2 x 256?

This is true, I tested that program on nForce 410/Geforce6100 and it didn't work at all no matter what modules. On KT266 (the best so far ) or i915 no problems.
I can add support for nForce 410/Geforce6100 if you need.
