    Yonah vs FX60~~~

    http://www.iamxtreme.com/cpu/fx60vst...u060427_04.htm

We easily overclock Yonah to 2.6G with default 1.2v, 3G with 1.5v, and 3.315G with 1.65v. All of those overclocking speed are included in following tests. Some of the tests we also add in AMD FX60 3G benchmark.

    SUPER PI 32M
    LOWER IS BETTER

Somehow we are not sure why T2600 runs much faster than FX60 under same speed. We believe it is because the L2 sharing technology for T2600 gives advantage to calculate the PI decimal faster.

    3DMark01
    HIGHER IS BETTER

3Dmark01 is very depending on CPU graphical calculation power. It clears shows T2600 under same speed is strong than FX60.

    3DMark03
    HIGHER IS BETTER

3Dmark03 always very depends on CPU graphical power too. However, it also stresses CPU more than any other kind of FutureMark products. FX60 under 3.1G air we can not finished all bench. We can see the result is very similar to 01.

    3DMark05
    HIGHER IS BETTER

3Dmark05 is more depending on the video card but still relate to the processing speed of CPU. we see the result between FX60 and T2600 getting closer. Even FX60 at 3G out perform T2600. However, once we reach speed of 3.1G, we think the DDR2 at 792, near 800 4-3-2 timing gives more bandwidth, so T2600 at 3.1G out perform FX60 at 3.1G. Or maybe is because the chipset limition.

    3DMark06
    HIGHER IS BETTER

Same thing happens in 3Dmark06 also. We believe video card is at the maximum performance for now. At T2600 3.1G and 3.3G and FX60 at 3G, 3.1G, the score is about the same. 3.1G FX60 even slower than 3G FX60. That might because 3.1G FX60 is unstable and gave lower CPU score and plus maximum performance is cut out at 3G. Given for speed of CPU will not pull out any additional score from video card.

    Sandra CPU Arithmetic Benchmark
    HIGHER IS BETTER

Very interesting, the FPU and iSSE2 for FX60 is actually stronger than T2600. But meanwhile T2600 has better ALU score. Maybe this is why Super Pi 32M calculation is much faster than FX60.

    Sandra CPU Multi-Media Benchmark
    HIGHER IS BETTER

Well, from this we can tell that under multi-media bench, both CPU almost exactly the same.

    Cinebench CPU Benchmark
    HIGHER IS BETTER

More interesting thing, Cinebench score for both CPU are very very close to each other. It seem like OpenGL calculation for FX60 and T2600 are almost same!

    Price
    LOWER IS ALWAYS BETTER

But there is not a lot of motherboard for T2600, Aopen seems like the only one i975X motherboard on the market. Also for NF4 motherboard, there are many great and lower price motherboard and ram. The actually price different at the lowest cost can be almost same price. But, of course you will lost a lot of features as price cut!

Very nice work mate, that had to have taken some time and dedication to pull together all of those results!

I can't wait for my cascade to come, then I can pick me up a Yonah or Conroe and let the madness begin, these things are just nuts!

    Very nice review.
I am not really up to date with Intel stuff. Are Yonahs (and conroes) coldbugged?

I ran some 900/900 XTX on Yonah @ 3.2Ghz 3:5 in 05 and compared to my X2 at the same mhz the scores we're nearly identical (15.5K). Maybe Smartgart was a problem on my Yonah run.

    Nice compare guess

    very nice charts and results...

now real world results please... doom/quake/fear demo winrar/audio compress etc... we all know that the new "core" rules in the calculation test benches

    if possible powerconsumption :P

Very good as always. This is a good representation of both chips. Thanks for the hard work.

    Quite!

Gotta love the way reading these forums you see people posting up benchmarks for pre-release hardware and all you get in reply is 'ooooh, benchmark this' or 'oooh what about that'.

People on here have real lives, they'll bench what they want to

Thanks for the results guess2098, very useful having them against the FX-60 in the graphs for easy comparison

im really interested in gaming benchmarks with dual card setups and not some 640x480 benchmarks either.

ill give it time im sure somebody will do it

Truly great work, an outstanding contribution to XS.

I especially like the Price graph, a real visual sense of price is good.

Very nice presentation, Denny! That's how it should be done, damn it Well thought out and planned
Throw in those gaming benchmarks when you're done with "your weekend"

Kick ass Denny! Thanks for taking the time to compare. Yonah is killer in pi with the 4mb shared cache but it's not so hot in 3d. Just a few hundred points faster clock for clock in 3d other than 01
