    Cool Hi-Perf @ Low $$ -> 2GB DDR500 Patriot PDC2G4000ELK (Samsung UCCC) OCing Report!!!

Hello to all of you guys still interested in seeing yet another DDR OCing Report!
This time I decided to go for a brand, that although is very well known, has not been seen too often here on XtremeSystems Forums - Patriot Memory, which is a division of PDP Systems, Inc based in Fremont, CA
The kit I will be lookiing is PDC2G4000ELK, which is 2GB DDR set built with Samsung UCCC. It has been announced about 3 months ago but I have not seen anyone really showing any results with it on our Forums. As usual, I have kindly asked for a retail sample that is not cherry-picked for the purpose of my presentation on XS. This is what I was told as an assurance, which is good enough for me

So, after this short introduction, let's get on with clokin'! But first, let snap few shots...

A plastic package it came in

A shot from a little perspective

    Cool looking logo

    Setup:
    AMD Opteron 146
    DFI LP Ultra-D R.A02, BIOS 11/14 Official
NForce4 drivers 6.70, USB, Network and Audio enabled.
    EVGA 7800GTX 256MB KO @ 490+40/1390 (low-power mode disabled thru BIOS-mod)
    Forceware 84.21, High Quality
    Windows XP SP2, not tweaked

    Part1: How good it is @ 8-4-4-3.0-1T

    SPi32M & 3DMark03 @ DDR560 8-4-4-3.0-1T, 308x10=3080Mhz

    3DMark2001 & 3DMark06 @ DDR560 8-4-4-3.0-1T, 308x10=3080Mhz

    SP2004 LargeFFT 1024MB used @ DDR560 8-4-4-3.0-1T, 308x10=3080Mhz

    SPi32M & 3DMark03 @ DDR566 8-4-4-3.0-1T, 312x10=3120Mhz

    3DMark2001 & 3DM06 @ DDR566 8-4-4-3.0-1T, 312x10=3120Mhz

So, 280Mhz is what this kit is able to take any task one throws at it. That sits quite well where good UCCC is going and this particular kit can go a bit further as far as benchmarking goes. Meaning, that 283MHz was good for everything, including gaming in FarCry and F.E.A.R, but not SP2004 or Memtest for Windows. Very good results, If I had to say something about it.

    Part2: How good it is @ 8-3-4-3.0-1T

    SPi32M & 3DMark03 @ DDR556 8-3-4-3.0-1T, 306x10=3060Mhz

    3DMark2001 & 3DMark06 @ DDR556 8-3-4-3.0-1T, 306x10=3060Mhz

    SP2004 LargeFFT 1024MB used @ DDR556 8-3-4-3.0-1T, 306x10=3060Mhz

    SPi32M & 3DMark03 @ DDR560 8-3-4-3.0-1T, 308x10=3080Mhz

    3DMark2001 & 3DM06 @ DDR560 8-3-4-3.0-1T, 308x10=3080Mhz

This is an interesting part. I managed to get those sticks fully stable at almost same memory clock as in above Part1, but with a TRP=3! Very nice surprise and I liked to see it. Tweakers will love that, although it will not make a lot of difference in real-world gaming. But for us, XS'ers every bit of performance matters, right?

    Part3: How good it is @ 5-3-3-3.0-1T

    SPi32M & 3DMark03 @ DDR500 5-3-3-3.0-1T, 300x10=3000Mhz

    3DMark2001 & 3DMark06 @ DDR500 5-3-3-3.0-1T, 300x10=3000Mhz

Well, one step down and we're hunting for highest MAX stable at 5-3-3-3.0-1T... And we found it at a round DDR500! Pretty cool, to be able to run a memory at it's advertised speed of DDR500, but with quite much tighter timmings Again, this result places PDC2G4000ELK up there - but was anyone surprised?

    Part4: First conclusion

This OCing Report has not been finished just yet and I still have few tests to run. But from what I have seen during those last five days with this RAM, I can say that it deserves excellent marks. Plus, we know that UCCC is perfect for those on the budget, but yet not willing to sacrifice any performance. This kit can be found at Newegg at a great price of $135 after $55 MIR! It's worth every penny

    Update1: How about full stability @ 5-3-3-2.5-1T

    SPi32M & 3DMark03 @ DDR490 5-3-3-2.5-1T, 294x10=2940Mhz

    3DMark2001 & 3DMark06 @ DDR490 5-3-3-2.5-1T, 294x10=2940Mhz

    SP2004 LargeFFT 1024MB used @ DDR490 5-3-3-2.5-1T, 294x10=2940Mhz

"Tightening" to CAS2.5 appeared to be as easy as going to BIOS and changing it I got DDR490 which is good for probably everything but DDR500 was not quite stable. I almost got it to pass SPi32M, though...

Stay tuned for more benches and thanks for reading!

That is some hardcore performance for that price! Good to see UCCC is still kicking some serious ass

Those are some nifty spreaders also.

For 135 A/R it was a bargin for UCCC.

    update #1-

Seems to be working great at DDR560 right now @ 3-4-4-8

woohoo, we'll see how high I can go.

I'm glad you guys like it The more variety the better and bringing it to XB is what I want to do...
Yes, this set looks quite nice, that's true. I will have few more benches done today, including CAS2.5 results - just for kicks

    @irev210
Very cool Can you post few results here, once you're done playing? Can you include CPU-Z SPD Tab too? Thanks!

Do you know if this applies to the 1GB kits of PC4000ELK and PC3200ELK stuff?

Hmm... It seems like PDC1G4000ELK is also assembled with Samsung UCCC chips. It says on their webpage - "Available in high capacity up to 2GB dual channel paired kit". But I don't think that PC3200ELK is UCCC, though...

But I would rather have you check that at the source

    So far, i am doing 280mhz @ 3-4-2-8

You were right bachus_anonym, just as easy as changing it.

Ive tested 3-4-4-8 with lots of 3D games and zero issues, this ram seems just _unreal_ for the price of 135. Probably the best investment i made.

I do miss my winbond 260 @ 2-2-2-5 high voltage sticks, but 1gb just doesnt do it for me anymore lol

Hey bachus, what week is your samsung UCCC? Upon further inspection of my dimms, the heatspreaders suck. The Thermal tape maybe makes 20-30% contact with IC, some of them, the IC doesnt even touch the thermal tape... like a mini oven.

I carefully took off the heatspreaders and put them aside incase I need to RMA.

My samsung memory is week 552. I wonder if newer UCCC is better. Any thoughts?

Really wish I could get some higher speeds out of these.

I have not removed heat-spreaders but I would suspect 0552 as well. I know there are Samsung original 2x1GB modules built with IC's weeks of 0601-0603, 0610 but I really have no idea If those are any better. From what we have seen, 280MHz 8-3-4-3.0-1T is very good UCCC so you should be fairly happy
