    Reservoir or T-Line?

Which do you think is better and why? I have been using reservoirs but getting conflicting answers on which is better..I have heard that when using a T-Line it takes alot longer to get air out of lines vs a reservoir....I know that I am still a noob so take it easy on me...thank you all!

You sure start a lot of threads...

I used to use resevoir but I've gone T-Line for my last two setups... shorter tubing runs and one lless item causing restriction removed from the loop... it's tougher to bleed, yes, but no big deal, it just takes more time.

I had a res for about 2 weeks... i prefer the t-line, even though it takes a couple of days for all the bubbles to work their way out.

Try to stay away from the fillport if you can. They seem to like to get corroded even when they only touch water for brief periods.

I always used a res as it's easier to bleed. But for the restriction I put it out of the normal loop with a T-piece, which works quite nice if you have a pump with dual inlet (like the DDC with plex top). Low restriction and still very easy to bleed.
I coulnd't stand using a res for a high flow loop without a T as you get too much turbulence and air is being sucked into the loop all the time...

distilled wont slow it down from getting corroded. well it will if the distilled is pure and ionized (so that its stable and doesnt try to grab ions from the Al itself).

not really bogus. I guess the idea was that the al wouldnt be touchin the water much so it wasnt a problem.. BUt since you are threaded barbs into the aluminum it wears off the anodizing, leaving bare aluminum. I am kind of surprised that DD didnt learn their lesson with the Origional Maze4. Right now if u have a corroded MAze4 Alu they will replace it with a delrin top free of charge..

BUT there is good news. Petras Tech shop has a large order of delrin Fillports coming in and I'm pretty sure he will keep them in stock as a regular item.

It's anodized so it takes quite a while for it to corrode, they probably overestimated the strength of the anodization, like half of germany.

I only know of one other fillport, it's delrin so it won't corrode. The only thing I don't like about it is the ugly top plug, but if you replce it with a nickel plated one like on the DD fillport it would be perfect! Link.

@andersson: Well, it depends pretty much on the quality of the aluminium and the anodization used. Innovatek for example uses some really corrosive stuff, but there were other manufacturers with better material who never had any problems. I have mixed all sorts of materials so far, and to be honest I had more problems when mixing too much water wetter with plex than corrosion problems with aluminium (I used Cape blocks before, which are aluminium plus copper).

had a dual res and about 2 weeks ago i switched over to a "t" line happy i did it lowered load temps by about 2*

the "T" line is really not that hard to bleed it only took about 30-40 minutes

The corrosion of the DD fillports is a confirmed problem, unfortunately - corrosion has been reported multiple times in cases of no direct liquid contact...

I suppose as the top of the t-line is closed, with a water-filport temp differential of up to 10c, you get a slow but sure evaporation and condensation cycle in that small space that eats away at the alu over time.

Remember that the main fluid has dissolved copper in it already, so this gets carried up to the alu by evap, corrodes the alu, which then drops its oxides down to the main water in the condensation... rinse, repeat over time...

they are the same ones. I talked to Petra and asked him if he would be willing to do a large order of them so that XS members (and whoever else wants one) could get them after the ebay listing closed.

As you can see he agreed.

    Thanks again Petra!

Well this doesn't look good... Maxxx do you have any of those delrin ones around, or plan to order any? I better heed this advice.

See, what I really like about these, aside from them not being made of aluminum, is that they're light enough to use them as a simple T-Line plug (if you don't want to drill into your case).
