so i had a little tinker with my board and cpu a little more, and i am now running at 2.4ghz load temp of 46. After half an hour torture testing with sp2004, no errors as of yet running my pc3200 on a divider of 166 to bring it back up to 200mhz on this overclock. Cpu is at 1.350 volts which i believe is stock volts? although i set it to 1.350 in the bios, asus probe shows 1.38 and fluctuates up and down every now and then but does not go over 1.4 i think everything is safe and stable and i cant see the need to test the memory as its running at stock speed (200mhz). Although at 2.5ghz my cpu seems to hit a brick wall, it will boot just fine but once it gets to the windows loading screen it will just restart its self i think it may need more volts but im happy at 2.4 right now.

    spec's;

    Amd 3800+ 64 X2 LDBHE 0605FPMW Stepping
    Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe
    Ati x1900xt 512mb Powercolor
1gb PC3200 Elixir 2x 512mb sticks dual channel running on divider of 166
    Freezer 64
    Hiper 580w Type-R Psu
    Thermaltake Armor

thanks anymore help or suggestions is gladly welcomed

Well, lets start with your memory.....
Have any idea what type of chips are one the sticks? Also, they should be able to run better timings -> but positive that if they're rated @ pc3200, they should be able to run at 200mhz @ 1t.

You've got some nice HW there, but that memory seems a bit "out-of-place" when matched with your other components.....

ok dude, well its elixir branded memory i agree its a bit poo and i should look for some more. Although the memory is branded Elixir, cpu-z reports it to be
Nanya Technology, i have also tinkered around in the bios to try to change it to 1t but i couldnt find an option to run it at 1t anywhere prehaps i need a better look

also torture tested for 1 hr 15 now and still no errors on each core things are looking good im pretty sure this is all stable

Jaco my Power supply was doing the same thing... be glad though, mine was dipping down to 11.38v to 11.07v (only 4 months old too). So I took the power supply out and found a new one. Now i found a nice 650Watter and shes holding the voltage steady as I could ever want. Just trying to stuff it back in was rough and sorting through the wires I'll do later.

Anyways with the machine back online I only had sunday night to mess with it. Tested out 2.7 (270x10) with 1.45v (26C/38C) ran prime for about 2 hours, did 3d tests and passed those as well as clearing 32M super pi... so was time to move on. Then I tested 2.8 (280x10) with 1.53v (30C/42C) it primed for an hour then cleared a super pi 32M test. I didn't do a 3d test yet as I wanted to try 2.9... So I pushed forward. Upped it to 2.9 (290x10) with 1.60v (temps were 30-32C/46C... I don't like going over 1.6 on air ...just makes me uncomfortable so didn' go higher in volt) Unfortunately Core 1 refused to run stable and failed attempts of prime and super pi almost immediately. Backed it down to 2.85 still at 1.6V but it still would not run long in prime or super pi. So I backed it down to 2.8 @1.53v again and did a long prime run and after about 2 hours it failed.

Was pretty tired and disappointed after all that so I set up a CPUburn/K7 and let it run for about 2 hours and shut her down to cool off while I went to work. Will see what happens when I get back home tonight.

My LDBFE 0610 UPMW chip is a little disappointing too.
    (For what's it's worth :I have a very high batchnr : 1340)

I'm running 2620Mhz @1.488vcore (might get away with a little less vcore) , that's still a 620Mhz overclock. Not that bad actually...

Like everybody here at XS , I was hoping for 3000Mhz @1.5vcore or so...
Bah , better luck next time

I'm still hoping my PSU is holding me back, cause i'm having my system lock up completely at 2700Mhz. Normally , there's one core failing first , not this time , windows is just freezing on me after stressing both cores for a few minutes ? Might be locking up because of voltages dipping too low?

Sorry to hear that Jaco, I was really hopeful this would be a good chip too.

My LDBFE 0610 UPMW (its a pretty high batch number as well 1499) seems like it will max out below 2800... When I run it 2800 at 1.58v it still fails primes in 2 hours... really disappointing. (hoping to at least salvage 2750 or so @ 1.5v or so... I will try again tonight. At least it was better than my old opty 170 which couldn't run 2.6 under 1.55v but still failed prime within 15min...

Thinking I should have got the 0606 EPMW chip... oh well...

    Small update:
After I flashed my ultra to new BT BIOS I could raise 50 mhz
    Now I can do 285x10 @ 1.5v (shows 1.45 but I am feeding 1.5)

Don't forget I am on air. I hope this week I can build up my water system!
    cheers!

    Nope, that is not normal.

2850 1.42v I get 43-44c with dual prime smallFFT running. This is with ~22-23c ambient.

You should try to reseat your BT. Make sure you tighten it proper and that its even.

You're absolutely correct there. This is critical. Also, uneven will show as one core failing much earlier than the other.

The weird thing is, the 3800s I've had that ran hot for this reason became outstanding once the problem was fixed. Like they'd "burned-in" with a bad contact. I really believe this helped.

After two or three days of burning in the cpu and tweaking the ram timings (tightened up the timings running 5/6 divider to 2.5-3-2-7-1T), I've finally gotten both cores stable @2800 @1.53v (23C idle and 38C load)

This 3800x2 (LDBFE 0610 UPMW) has been a rough one to tame, Its didn't do 3000 but I'm happy it will at least do 2800
