you sure about thoose temps? whats the ambient temp? mine gets in the 50 on load with the 1.4v and the VF900-Cu on full fan speed

Sounds weird with the flickering, i have experienced it when i get out of a game, then windows like flashes from black to normal screen, a reboot helps and its gone, happend twice though.

Iam thinking about doin the 1.45v or the 1.5v tommorow. but the temps are scaring me.

Turns out it was my overclocked sandy cpu that was causing my flickering. Had to turn the cpu overclock down quite alot. Got such a crap OC on my sandy. 2.6Ghz. But a great OC on my 7900gt

GOESA I would be tempted with the 1.55v mod anyway. Shouldnt go much higher than 50. Do you have any case fans?

With that GT in there, you may new a little more volts to your Sandy to get that overclock back. Give it a whirl.

Me: what PSU was that again?

The next picture shows the Mods to change the 1.2 or 1.5 Volt to a higher value.
C gives 0.05 Volt increase when shorted to ground
B gives 0.1 Volt increase to ground and
A gives 0.2 volt increase to ground,
Plus any combination of A, B and C.

    Attachment 45297

I have given two possible routes to achieve your Vgpu increase.
Use either the upper or the lower set of traces.
When you only use the red trace, you will have 0.05Volt increase. (1.25V or 1.55Volt)
When you use Red plus Yellow, you will have a 0.15Volt increase (1.35Volt or 1.65Volt)
When you use Red, Yellow plus Purple, you will have a 0.35Volt increase ( 1.55Volt, do not use it in combination with the 50Kohm resistor mod)
Of course you can also connect a single point to get what you want, f.i. ground point C (sorry for the earlier typo) to get 1.4Volt.
Although a bit more difficult to achieve, it is still doable.
Go with conductive ink with a large U around all the other points towards ground.

You can either do the modding with a thin wire and solder, or with conductive ink.
Do not worry about all the points between C and B, they are not connected to anything, and are used to keep the lines as simple as possible.
Ok I have read this a few times and I just need to clarify with you gents before I do anything more.

I have already done the D511 to ground with conductive paint mod and I am at 1.4V. Now I want to get 1.45V what is the next step? Do I have to remove my D511 and then redo them as show above to get +.15v for the 1.45v? Or no?

    leave your 1.4 in place
i used the very bottom red line to add the extra 0.05vgpu
just go from the ground point on the left to the closest point (first point on the line of dots labelled C-B-A in a row)

to be as clear as possible the point you want to connect to the lower ground point is directly above the red 'C' which 'C' is above the text '0517'

    clear enough?

you can change it in the BIOS or in rivatuner.. I think current Nibitor supports 7900.. rivatuner, not sure yet.

There seems to be many cards that have a defect in that the fan will run at 100%... There is a lengthy thread at Anandtech about it and also on another forum (ask google, cant remember)

My card also had this defect but I will use watercooling so no issues for me, however it is a really noisy fan, but also IMNSHO totally useless so do yourself a favor and pickup a Zalman VF900Cu instead :P

hey guys, I must have done the easy 1.4 mod a million times because coolbits would not "auto detect" any higher then normal. So this time I did it over and used ati tool, bumped the core up to 630 and was getting no artifacts! I just played oblivion for 30 mins an no artifacts either. So in conclusion just because coolbits is not detecting you higher DOES NOT Mean the mod did not work!

Well its all based on your opinion. I dont use powerstrip anymore as I switched to rivatuner awhile ago (but right now riva doesnt support 7900). The author of rivatuner is making a brand new version with alot of new enhancements and features which is why he hasnt released a newer version supporting the 7900 cards yet. He wants to bring out all the new stuff at once instead of releasing a quick version with 7900 support he said. Anyway back to the topic powerstrip is more of a utility you can keep running all the time for profiles and stuff for diff. games and ATItool is mostly for overclocking stuff IMO. So if I were to still use powerstrip I'd keep that in my taskbar all the time for game profiles (Im using nHancer for that right now until riva drops) and use ATItool just for overclocking testing and stuff. THats just my opinion. I dont really think one is better then the other as they are used for different purposes.

hi, i´m from chile, lol, so sry my english, i have some questions, i´ll like if you could answer them, with basic english please lol

all i have to do, to get my 7900gt to use 1.4v is that line from 511 to ground i have seen like 50 times? nothing else?

if thats true, you are actually telling me that i do the line and I automatically get the 1.4v? without touching any bios or other component?

    please answer, thanks

Just please use tape to cover the 512 and 510 with tape because the conductive ink spreads very easily so it will hit the other two if your not very very careful. Its just easier to use the tape to mask out the lines you will be using. I tried it freehand first and it didnt work too good as my pen has a wide line it makes so I had to use the tape. Now that I think about it im sure I had the mod working way earlier then I thought because of the problem I had with auto detect not going any higher then usual.

I did the mod over and over like I said earlier because ppl said just use coolbits auto detect (if not using multimeter) to see if you succeeded which does NOT always work so dont just try auto-detect to see if the mod worked, also use ati tool! It still detects around 540ish even though im definetely overclocking higher then that with coolbits and ati tool. Im also playing games/running benchmarks at 650+ stable on the core which rocks! Praise and thanks to the original person who found the volt mod! I would have used my multimeter but I bought one last night and did not realize it did not come with a battery so I have one with no battery. Going to get battery for it in a day or two when im out next time. Anyway, coolbits let me go up to 656 before it started failing the test. At 657 is when ati tool starts showing artifacts. I can get a bit higher in realworld testing (games) as is usually the case. Usually get a bit higher then what ati tools says is your max (when it starts to show artifacts)

edit: grammar, spelling and new info.

Hey all, i've got a quick noob question. I'm wondering if this XFX 7900GT with VIVO ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150149 ) can be volt modded like the rest? I ask because its the only VIVO 7900gt and could it possibly have some different hardware onboard?
