It´s not a good thing, you´ll prolly lose some performance and some things will not run but it should make your cpu more stable. I found this thing when i first switched from Ultra-D to Expert and it couldn´t run prime at the clock it used to run with Ultra-D. I tried everything with Expert but no matter what i did it still failed instantly on Expert. But after changing that setting it primed like it did on Ultra-D. Just so you´d know i ran 2,8GHz 1,375v on Ultra 12 hours prime, on Expert it needs at least 1,425v for 2,8ghz.

    0609 Fpaw

I just received my 170 0609 FPAW. Stay tuned for results. I hope the memory controller will go higher than the one from my 0550 VPMW, which is limited to a pathetic 240 Mhz

Retail? If I'm not mistaken you have to get an OEM to get CCB1E.. am I right? And of course the now expired coupons make it a nice deal.. I'm hoping the coupon accepted orders mark CCB1E 0608 steppings Because that's what I got

I wasn't clear on that, I meant you have to get OEM through monarch to get CCB1E 0608. Retail 165's from monarch seem to be CCBWE 0607

Not talking all around here, just this one shipment it seems

I never order from Monarch. I tried to get a refund on a order they screwed up on and it took them over a month to get me my money back. They even charged a 15% restocking fee even though the order never shipped!! GL....

Removed the IHS on my new opty 165 today. Not great stepping but now i can go 2.8 with 1.55v. I need 1.62v to do that before. That some great results.

Come up with some 12hr shots 35min is just about nothing. And hell, I can tell you. Been screwing around for a day to get mine 12hr stable Nevertheless, 0550VPMW are still killers... I can only match the average 0550VPMW

Not all 0609 FAPW are made equal...

My experience with my CCB1E 0609 FPAW turned out to be a big disappointment, comparing with what others here can reach with this chip.

I had to bump Vcore for the first time at 2700, but it didn't worry me too much. I had my first doubts at 2750, when both cores failed dual prime. A new voltage bump got it right, but 2800 needed 1,5V (1,45*104%) to only boot in windows. Prime fails immediatly, followed by a BSOD.

For info, temperatures were always under control (28C idle, 36C load @2750), memory ran with 133 divider, and I bumped a little LDT and chipset voltage (shouldn't have any influence, but you never know )

    Back to my 0550 VPMW...

Edit : The stepping is FPAW, not FAPW as in the title...

865pe: Actually Large FFTs are more stressful on the CPU because the mem controller is stressed too. It gives off more heat and makes the temps go up 2-3C on my 0550vpmw than running small ffts.

Finally got my temps severly down! Looks like my chips likes sub 40C degrees.
Ran loops of 3dmark06 at this setting and seems stable, but havent had time to prime it yet. Max temp on CPU was 38C degrees at these settings..
