ryder and vodka welcome to the team
ryder you have great start!!
vodka when playing a game you wont notice much. i play silkroad about 1-2hrs a day and bionic stays on even though it will use one core for silkroad and another for a single for rosetta 50% for each core since its a dual core. as to the auto saving yes i believe it does unless it shuts down abnormally.
V0dka, you can leave everything at defaults if you want to. R@H saves it's progrees automatically, so you don't need to worry about that, and it's set to low priority, so it's just scale it's usage down whenever you start somethign else up.
A wolf in wolves clothing.
RyderOCZ: Great start: 668 points at the moring update!

Not doing to bad....not quite on the 24 hour mark yet...I must say these projects must be/are a litte smaller than F@H proteins....most of the rigs complete one in about 3 hours
Even figured out the stats thing in my Sig......I think
you can change the amount of time you want the WU's to run in your online settings. long ones or short ones. i like short ones myself so it feels like im actually doing a little work
System:
2600K / 8GB Corsair Vengeance PC15000
Asus Sabertooth P67 / MSI Twin Frozr II 6950 Crossfire
corsair 1000hx / Corsair 800D obsidian
Crucial M4 128GB SSD / Windows 7 Pro
Cooling:
Koolance 360 rev 1.1 CPU block / MCR320 QP rad
OCZ hydropulse 800 pump w/ EK-DCP 4.0 res
Primochill LRT Black tubing 3/8" ID x 5/8" OD
For WU length, I think most of us run 2 hour units.

Can I get some help with configuring this thing on Linux?
I have been searching and so far I can't find how to give it my account info.
I am trying to run it on my Linux server that does not have any GUI installed, command line only.
Thanks

I sorted it.....stupid websites say that with the new 5.2.13 client, you can use your email addy and password....but you can't....you have to use the %^@##@$# 5 mile long key they sent in the email
So that is 1 more box running now... 2.4C with HT on Debian Linux = More beef

It took me 6 hours of funny command line usage until I found that out.Originally Posted by RyderOCZ

Why am I only getting single digit credit on my Linux box? Is it downloading simpler work?
Anybody have a 2.4 or 3.0 P4 benchmark I can look at? My 2.4C gives me less than a 1000 score for a benchmark.
The 32bit linux client gave my 1/3 of the score I got with win2k. It just sucks.

On Linux, what is the key I have to give to
./run_client -attach_project http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta <key>?
I cannot run the GUI client at this time, the machine is behind a slow line.
Eh, I see Ryder gave the answer right there.Originally Posted by uOpt

Yea......Boincview shows "estimated credit" of like 66...the unit completes in about 2.5 hours...but then I only get 7 or 6 credit..... WTF??
Seems to work for me under Linux at about 11 points for each 2.2 GHz AMD64 CPU:Originally Posted by RyderOCZ

I don't use an optimized client yet. Also seems the Linux client doesn't work right on my FreeBSD installation.
Boincview isn't real good at guessing until the WU is almost done...Originally Posted by RyderOCZ
Your credit is based off your benchmark scores.. those 419 / 858 benches are the prob.. The 32bit Linux client is crap.
If your 3.0 is at stock, those benchmarks are a little low... if it's OC'd it's way way low.

The programming is ... interesting. Redirects stdout by itself into a file, so that I cannot redirect it when I want. Oh well, let's see how this goes.
Now it looks like that client gave me a nice fork() bomb, a couple hundred "bash" pop up in ps(1)
That is repeatable. Exchanged the binaries with the 64 bit binaries, used ./run_manager. Quit the manager. Client says exit requested by user (I though I only quit the GUI manuager but whatever).Originally Posted by uOpt
Since then running this thing starts a fork() bomb of bashes, which - thanks to me stupidly running it in an unlimited user account - grinds the machine to a halt. I am not amused.
I'm afraid I have to have a closer look at this sometime else. I assume source code for these things is still not available?
Rosetta is not open source, but boinc is.
