    is there a 975 shuttle?

The conroe uses 4mb's of L2, it is a SSE monster. 2 cores, extra 64 bit line. About it. Will be a great multi-tasker. But its really not that impressave.

Shuttle should have something similair out in the near future.
In short, both AMD and NVIDIA discovered that their next-generation graphics cards are superior to each others' last-generation graphics cards.

I dont see why Shuttle wouldnt want to go Conroe way or even Merom way. Both chips u get alot more performance, price per watts.

Shuttle will definitely get Yonah/Merom/Conroe support.....but they are notoriously slow at introducing technology.

Just out of curiosity, what is the probability that these results are pure rubbish?

    A 2.4-2.6 ghz conroe is equal to a 7+ ghz p4? WTF

I have a hard time believing this but I hope everything I see is true.

I am sad to report that that BIOS 0401 (only release) for the Asus P5WDG2-WS does not allow a POST with my Conroe. Hopefully Asus reps will be able to tell us something soon. This is disappointing for me too...

These are legit. Why wouldn't you believe them? Conroe is a hell of alot better than any netburst core

because I am very ignorant when it comes to microchip architecture and the OP only posting one quick benchmark made me skeptical

What's FUGGER up to though? Wasn't he trying to get something going, or is he having the same issues (no mobos) as you?
    Thanks.

@FCG: That REALLY sucks man. Hopefully the good folks at Asus can shed some light on the situation. If we're all lucky, its a BIOS issue. If unlucky, its a hardware issue. Maybe something can be modded to give proper voltages if thats whats causing the problems? Hopefully someone can give us a bit of concrete info regarding the compatibility issues. Keep up the good work guys!

*EDIT*: TheMan42, that was so offtopic its stupid. Please take it to the AMD section and stop clogging this thread.

I ordered a Bad Axe. I have one more trick up my sleeve although what I really want to know is what is needed to get Conroe to run on an Asus 975X board.

The problem is definately at least partially BIOS related as a check of CPU supply voltage (vcore) with a multimeter when the board has power shows 0v being supplied to the CPU....hmmm....need about 1.2v more.

Have you tried the 0403 BIOS for the P5WD2-E? Not sure if it will work for the WS, but its a newer build in case you have the P5WD2-E to test also.

Couldn't you manually compensate for that FCG?

mby power_good signal is not connected.. or the voltage conroe is requesting by VID pins is "no cpu" by current lga775 p4/pd specsheet..
    either way, pinmod would help...
but that's only solution to a half problem.. bios issues still stay..

no, the problem is that the VID code for the MOSFET drivers is not being set properly. this forces the MOSFETs low with an open source to gate drain....hence 0 supply voltage. think of this like a fail safe, since the BIOS cannot correctly determine the CPU microcode, it causes a power supply shutdown so that the processor does not accidently receive a deadly voltage....

like its been said large cache = low 1m lets see a 32m and some gaming benches.

looks impressive but so far Spi = fluff with that kind of cache avil.

AMD will have a hard time with conroe at 530.00 vs 1200 if Conroe does as well in games as its doing in Spi

Conroe with SSE4? That's news to me.

Well, back to the drawing board. Thanks Victor, now I have 2nd toughts on getting a 960 and the thing is that I just ordered my Tuniq Tower 120 this morning before this thread started so I guess that's on the bright side for when I get a Conroe.

    Good work Victor, thanks.
