    I would go with the 0601 just because the earliest 06 steppings are the best.

    I ended up picking up the 0601 fpmw and its indeed a 'T' .. I noticed they had a 0602 xpmw T and a 0605xpmw N ..

    Since the T's run better at higher voltages is it even worth trying to run it on air? I want to test it out but I only have the si-120 and panaflo at the moment.. should I just try it at higher volts?

    On air would be fine, just dont push past 1.55v or 50C, whichever comes first lol.

    let me know how that works out.. frys has several of these in stock and i really wanted to try one out..

    as for the 1.55v I thought the T was volts hungry.. where do you recommend starting out? 1.45?

    I dropped it in my machine and ran it for a few minutes and it definately runs hotter than my toledo (0535 tpmw - n) .. ~30c at stock.. I ran the maxtcase util and it only gave me a MCT of 67c .. is this bad? I was seeing a lot of people getting 71-73.. the 0535 was ~57c seems pretty low..

    There's a 48 hour return period for this 0601.. think i should hold onto it and get it under water next week or take it back and grab the 0602 xpmw or 0605xpmw?

    btw.. batch is 950 on the 0601.. how bad is that?

    @ju1ce

    My first 0607 had similar Tcase figures:

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=122

    and look what that did. It's a hard choice, because the 0607 SPMW is also a great batch as Diamondback just discovered.

    @Diamondback

    Welcome to the forum and glad my mutterings have helped point you at a good one.

    I appreciate the insight.. I think i have 2 items on my agenda..

    1) pick up one of the frys bundles with the 0607 smpw before they're gone @ 280..

    2) get into a decent water setup asap to see how well these really perform..

    I figure I can work with both of them as you suggested and unload the one that doesnt suit my needs.. im sure under phase that 0601 will be a monster.. its a good time to be buying x2's.. i guess you can't really go wrong with whatever you choose seeing as it outperforms spec..

    I'm still wondering why my toledo was such a dog under air..

    ya.. those 0607spmw's are monsters.. definately need to go grab one.. I am going to order my WC setup today.. any recommendations on parts? I've been reading the wc forum on here and there are so many options.. tough to decide whats really the best route to take.. I had wanted to go with a single 120 rad inside my case (p180) in the front hd bay area but I don't know if i want the hot air recirculating through my case.. so i may go with a dual 120 off the back.. ideas?

    can you guys post some specs on what you're running?

    Got my ADBHE 0514 UPAW from ebay today. TIM all over the substrate and some on the pins and theres a gash in the IHS. WTF did this guy do with it

    What do I have to blur out on an ES CPU pic so AMD doesn't catch me

    Well it's more a scratch than a gash... Nothing MAJOR but it's there. I need to know what I need to hide on an ES/pre release before I post

    why hide anything? It's not like AMD would come round to your house and whisk it away if they notice that you have an ES chip, is it.

    Hmmm i guess you're thinking of the original owner...fair enough.
    I think the whole bottom line of the stepping is fairly sensitive, and traceable. Certainly everything up to the batch number.

    Well, after fighting a corrupt video driver all damn day long, I finally am up and going again. I popped my ihs off a little bit ago, and I have seen a very significant gain in temps. Whereas, before, I couldn't prime above 2950, no matter the volts due to heat, I am now priming at 3000 @ 1.5v and my load temps are 38C. They used to be 39 to 40 c @ 2900 and 1.4v.
    Will post a screenie if I pass 1 hour.

    That's nut's . Nice to see cinebench at work.

    The best I have got is 903 with that test. That was 2900 mhz and using the 64bit version. about 24 secs.

    2850 mhz with the win xp version gave me 777. About 28 secs.

    Your render is 25 secs, and is that with the standard xp cinebench. What speed was your chip at?

    So I am looking to upgrade to an X2.

    Currently got a 3000+ Venice @ 2.72 on DFI SLI-DR under TT Big Typhoon.

    Using the current cooling, what stepping would you recommend (assuming an N for air overclocking?)?

    From what I have read I am likely looking for an early 06 (0601 0602 0605 etc) -N 3800 X2 right?
