won't these new chipsets work for socket M2?

other than our local hardcore hardcore ppl here, most daily users will prolly get dual opties with rd580 chipset mobo's that will be cheaper due to M2 being release, at least this is my plan unless M2 really is that much faster for same or less money

    hmmm

Heh, if Jennifer was a bios tweaker, she's be the first bios tweaker I wanted to tweak

AM2 socket is a joke, the entire movew is held back by DDR2 not being fast enough. Nothing like spending money to go backwards.

When you have DDR2-1000 10,4,4,4.0 as the norm, then you might be starting out equal to the 939's now.

I'm looking forward to the RD580, but DFI must NOT.... NOT... repeat the Vtt problem of the NF4 boards. Im sitting here with 4x512M OCZ Gold BH5 being held back to 240Mhz because of the Vtt glitch. Any 2 sticks does 260Mhz but all 4 are limited to 240 due to the Vtt getting much worse with 4 sticks.

The 4x512M of VX I have does 260Mhz but one stick is doing the acting up, if I go past 3.1V with it.

So as soon as someone (TONY) who has a board can, please look with a scope on the Vdd Vtt lines and tell us the signals are clear?

I have my X1900 now, so later if RD580 is a go and works correctly, Ill consider a second X1900 for CF. Using 6xAA 16xAF is nice, but even at 650/750 on a 2.65Ghz opty 165, also using AdaptiveAA in Farcry is not quite fast enough. lost Coast is amazing to see, as is ToyStore in realtime rather than a video.

true, but isn't it our job, and duty, here at XS to be the ones to "prove" it?
Got a fan over those memory sticks? No? Well get to it before you kill them

I see what I see, and you see what you see. I can't make you see what I see, but I can tell you what I see is not what you see. Truth is, we see what we want to see, and what we want to see is what those around us see. And what we don't see is... well, conspiracies.

Anyone know when this will be released?

AnandTech said it would be ten days to two weeks after the March 1st launch.
