    Icy's Dothan Project

The time has eventualy come and now i own a dothan 740,2x p4c800-e dlx (1 nees new bios) and 3x ct-479 mostly thanks to Gray Mole and his amazing service!

Made this thread so i can ask questions to people and get adivce and to also show my eventual progress once i have finished my cascade. But untill then a few pics! heh

Here is the p4c800-e dlx that i bought of Gray Mole and has been modded by persivore with all the mods , also the CT-479 that i modded all but the 3.3k ohm mod. Also took the wires out the side towards the top of the mobo for when i phase change the system and also took them from the bottom as to get them out of the way of the hold down im going to use. I want to get a better chipset cooler to replace the asus one but there is no big hurry to do that.

While im building the cascade im going to have to use air or maby water if i can make a bracket to hold the block down. I just dont like the small fans that come with the ct-479's so now its fitted with a 120mm fan. This should be ok for the time being had to mod the fan a bit and also mod the clips to fit nice and neat.

Off topic i found this in the shop today and just had to buy it heh. It actualy tastes pretty good especialy with whisky! also might have to make it into a cs:s spray and Put some slang on there about campers. Also you can see in the background my 24/7 system a barton xp2500+ rofl! super pi time of 48 sec haha soon to be change with the dothan rig.

That thing you made to get the 120mm fan to the heatsink, isn't going to work very well. Axial fans doesn't have much air pressure and that adapter thing causes loss in airflow so there maybe no decrease in temperatures.

well i tested them both and i can feel alot more air going out of the heatsink than that little thing.

the 120mm with adapter is much better than the 70mm, remember its going from big to small, so the air is compressed to a smaller area (and cancels the deadspot) so it will be much better

Should be good for 260+ with that board mate, ran that with me 750 no probs. That was before moddage too, so theres probably more in the board

well my best test results after a bit of playing. I know my ram is crap so thats the next thing i need to upgrade but im just hitting a wall atm. 200x13 @ stock volts is stable(whops forgot to turn down the volts ) then anything above 205 gets a bit doggy. Any advice welcome! =)

make sure you set the jumpers to 533fsb, it provides more voltage to the vcca (i think that's the name of it) so in theory you can go higher

when I first got my 730, I removed the jumpers and I kicked myself in the balls afterwards (lightbulb came on ) cause without the jumpers my max was 220x12 prime stable and now im priming at 230x12 with the jumpers @ 533

    hope that helps

thats not bad at all... get some better ram and you're all set you'll be in the 25-26 area

by the way I notice you're running 3-4-4-8, I was wondering if you knew why I just can't set CAS to 3.0 no matter what I try... the board just won't post...

those are some nice pi scores, get some better ram on that badboy and you should be hitting mid 20's!

    - oh and have you tried pushing the board with clockgen when booted into your os?

I think that your goal should be this one

    Spec:
    P4P800SE unmodded
    Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu
    2x512MB Twinmos SP3500@255.6 2-2-2-5@3.4V via ocz Booster
room temperature : ~5 degrees (the window from my little room was left wide open between 11PM and 3AM and ~-5degrees outside)

PS: with the default CT479 cooling and the same temperatures I was only 30MHz lower

Razor_Sniper: Yeah its the same chassis but different front and side. From NZXT i think.

Just got this ram from the forsale section.

"Mushkin PC3500 Level II Black 2x512 Old School BH-5
Selling my 1gb set of benching ram.

Tough to find good old school BH-5. Loves volts and won't die.

Purple heat spreaders intact still on Mushkin's famed black PCB.

With 3.6v the ram will do 260-270 depending on the application or benchmark being run.
Maybe more with more volts. I never exceeded 3.6v."

    His results with this ram
