    Gigabyte 6600 (non-GT) vmod XTREMELY NEEDED :)

hey guyz, i picked up a few "Gigabyte 6600 TurboForce Edition" cuz i got it for a great deal. figured id just flip them, or hook up some of my friends. i think ill keep it for my brothers rig though.

    stock clocks 400/500
    overclocked 440/700

im pretty sure the ram's limitation is 700, and i have no prob with that, but i KNOW the core can go higher.

SO, does anyone know how to vmod the core for this card??? Seems pretty popular, but can't find any good info.

Also, any input on the sparkle bios??? does it actually give more volts to the core??? will it work OK for my card???

Thx in advance for any input

btw, if you "save as" you can zoom in lots more. i made sure its plenty big

    Hi,

Could you specify codes of following IC's

The lower pic (above the PCB Made in Taiwan thing) reads:

    ISL6549CB
    P441B

the one surrounded by caps says:

    APL1581
    AFA7W

do you need any more pics or angles?? Thx for helping me out

    Here are datasheets:

    http://www.intersil.com/data/fn/fn9168.pdf
    http://www.anpec.com.tw/products/dow.../APL1581b4.pdf

I guess ISL6549CB (=switching regulator) is for Vcore and APL1581 (=linear regulator) for memories. You should find voltage measurement points (first) in order to verify voltage levels before and after mods. Usually these voltages can be most easily found from + nodes of the largest electorolytic capacitors.

Vmod for ISL6549CB. Connect resistor (e.g. variable resistor ~50 kohm, HIGH VALUE FIRST !!) between FB (pin #4) and GND. Lower value = higher output voltage.

Vmod for APL1581. Connect resistor (e.g. variable resistor ~50 kohm, HIGH VALUE FIRST !!) between SENSE (pin #1) and ADJ (pin#2). Lower value = higher output voltage.

BE CAREFULLY WHEN MEASURING AND DO NOT MAKE SHORTS OR HAVE TOO LOW RESISTANCE VALUE

    Hi. Thx for your reply.

So i should check voltage via the back of the big cap's???

and i should connect a 50 kohm variable resister between pin4 adn ground and set to highest value first and test voltage. hmm, okay.

so how do i know which cap is measuring what voltage??? what should the voltages be stock???

Im sorry for sounding nub, but i am when it comes to vmodding. never done any vmodding before, so im kinda scared going into this. I was actually hoping for a pencil mod. by any chance, can you use the pics to simplify it and draw out a diagram???? If you have time. If not, dont worry about it.

Thx a bunch!! Ill try to figure out as much as i can from what you posted

Big capacitors are good points to test. There are several candidates for memory voltage (many large capacitors nearby), but only a one for Vcore (left from an large inductor, right-bottom corner).

I noticed that there are several testpoints in the card, a hole marked with TPxxx. Those point have usually (allways) interesting voltages, so it might be good idea to measure those points. Moreover, there are some TP's very near to ISL6549CB, and it is possible to that FB is connected to one of those. That would make vmod very easy to perform, maybe just stick a resistor between holes..

I do not know correct values, but using data from here:

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=87438

    Voltages COULD (!!!) be ~1.4 V (Vcore) and ~ 2.2 V (Vmem)
