2 new OCZ sets use Micron "F" die in 2 gig sets

Looks like the micron F die goes into 2 bins , First the PC-4000 plat XTC 2 gig set and then after that the PC-4000 gold XTC revision 1.1 according to sources at OCZ. I'm going to test out a 2 gig set of the pc-4000 xtc on Monday compared to the ballistix 4000 sets. In any case it's good to see micron ic's are making the rounds again for what it is worth.

Just as expected then, when it comes to new PC4000 8-3-3-3.0 set... If that's 100% info, then this time OCZ will be a "follower", not "pioneer" - just like it was said in the other thread

Who really cares who follows who. They all use the same sticks sooner or later. I mean there are all basically, micron, infineon, samsung or hynix, so it's not like there is any big secret ic maker out there. It's all in the binning I guess as well as the quality of the modules themselves. Anyway, I'm glad to see micron in the mix again since crucial balistix 2 gig supplies seemed to have gone away.

I just got a xtc 2 gig set the other day, ill have to take a look and see if they like 3338 instead of the 3438

Im not in the business of posting in speculation threads about what IC's we use, neither am I bothered if this time we apparantly followed some one else to use F die micron.

OCZ for the past 3 yrs have lead the way in discovering IC's, PCB used etc only to see the modules copied by competitors and the market lost as soon ass we find it.

For the record OCZ have been testing micron IC's for the past 6 months, we were worried by the news that Crucial may have had a 25% RMA rate or greater, so we have been cautious...thats all.

Im also becoming very cautious of who reads what here at Xs on the memory forum, as it seems every memory manufacturer has allies on this forum now, while not being a bad situation for Xs it has shown me I have to be careful with what is posted etc.

Only rev. 1.1 of the gold XTC and the new platinum XTC's oczG500LGXTC-K (highest binned) use the microns. (I did get an ok to post this by the way) I might have a Venus board next week to test these on also. that will be interesting as well.

What great for OCZ is that TeamGroup (that apparently also uses F revision on their Cronus part) is really struggling with making their 2GB available for purchase. It's nowhere to be found, not only US. On the other hand, OCZ set is ready and waiting to be picked up at Atacom Good job on that, Tony

A little bit off topic,but i saw that Transcend lowered it's prices in 1GB sticks.From 130 euros droped to 85...(here in Greece).I know before this reduction Transcend used UCCC chips and now i saw that uses Micron -5D.Are these "good"chips cause with UCCC which i own 2 of them did 3-4-3-8@287/2T enable

Yes, but like any other chips is is all in the binning and testing.

So...Xgman how goes it with the new OCZ's?

Do you know what Micron is currently shipping (via RMA) for it's new 2GB kits of Ballistix? I've been thinking about that as I have a pair coming back to me soon. Based on your post above it would seem that OCZ would be the way to go as they speed bin their IC's for max performance.
