Getting Started on my grouper. Lots of pics.

Had this thing running for about a month in my dorms. I'm on spring break and it's time to really break it in!!! So much for those going to nice places lol.

Getting all set up, yup, thats my foozball table.

Theres my naked X2 3800+ (CCBWE, i was unable to find the spreader to get the week..., last time i maxed it out it did 2.75)

some spart parts and my workbench (way to crowded to actually work on lol)

A nice cold beer on the ready, nice to keep it below the work area so i dont spill it on anything

    More to come...

Ok so youll find after reading my posts that im really ghetto with my stuff and im very impatient. I do what works and what works fast.

After blowdrying this thing for about 5 minutes, i wrested my butt off with the board trying to get the crappy epoxied chispset cooler off. I quickly grew impatient

Thats, right, burned her right off, after about 30 seconds of that I was free of that crappy chipset cooler!! I ended up having to take the mosfet cooler off as it was helping cool off the board, and i went at it with a wrench. Sapphire didnt kid around when they glued this thing on.

You can see here i got her all sanded down and ready to go (sure its not mirror but im not a believer in hardcore lapping anyways.)

    More on the way.

Whoa, melted the chipset heatsink? Is it OK for the chipset to get that hot? Well hope it's still alright.

Ok now for the new chipset cooler, its a thermalright NB-1, great for IC-7 G and my NF2's....

Really bad finish on the base, so i gave it a quick lap with 600grit.

Dont have a picture of the finished lapping sorry.

ok so i forgot one major thing, this cooler wont fit on this board!!!

Its funny, after putting all of that work into getting the expoxied hsf off im turning around and putting another one right back on, lol.

I used this setup to make sure i got good contact...

    More to come...

    Ok so back to it...

Now that the nb cooler is back on i was getting ready to fix up the mosfet cooler when i saw this:

I was pretty horrified at first, but then i remebered i had these:

The one i broke is a 6.3v 2200uf nichlon, and the one im replacing it with is a 6.3v 3300 rubycon...

not a bad trade if you ask me. I once got an abit board for nothing and made it into my parts bin

Done, and looking good i might add.

OK, well the rest of my posts will have to wait until monday, xtreme is being really slow right now and im out of town all weekend. For anyone that is curious, yes the board is up and benching better then ever right now.

So yeah, more to come on monday.

ok so i decided to post one more, downloading drivers on it right now so im bored heh.

Ok so bad picture im sorry, but if you look you can see the contact patch for the mosfets, not very good.

Ok another bad picture but moral of the story i lapped the sink:

again bad picture but its an old 9800pro hsf

Hot glued it on and it worked pretty well.

i found that for some reason there is a video card plug right next to the fets, so here is what i came up with.

I really like the way the ati fan looks on the ati board, hehe. more coming

I love the "ghettoness" of your mods, and that Sapphire- board seems to take a lot of beating. Shame it's fairly expensive though.
