    Talking Mad MikeE burn-in/testing recipe

There ARE other dividers, use one of them.
Use my example and plug in other dividers to get the 'multi' that works best for you (math is left as excercise for the student )

You need to know what you memory can do so you are only testing 1 variable. I know my TCCD will go to 300 easily (2.67Vdimm)

We are testing/burning in the ALL the CPU, including the memctlr here. Pick your multi/divider and set yourself up lower and work your way up, will help more in the long run

    1. Go back and find your max dual prime stable (1024-4096K FFT, 1/2 available mem each (check in task manager)) @ DEFAULT Vcore (find the vcore measure point and get a dmm to find REAL VCORE and set to 1.35 (mine is 1.2something ) This is optional)
Find point that it runs for 8 hours w/o dying. I'm not doing the affinity thing, just running 2 instances, loads the CPU 100% and works w/ the OS instead of fighting it.

    2. Move up 2 HTT after you get there and try again, repeating same cycle. Restart it if it dies, same settings, give it 3 times.

    3. If it still dies, S&M 1.7.6 looping through all tests except power 1 (look @ settings, forget the first checkbox, #2 will test the CPU even More) & memory. Run that for 8 hrs, then try 2. again.

    4. If you still fail 2, you can:
    A) Loop through 3. & 2. a few times to burnin some more and it may work?
    B) Knock Vcore up 1 notch and back to 2.

Stop when you are happy or Vcore and / or temps become an issue.

This is what I am doing. Hope it helps. I am in Step 3 @ 280x10 @ default (DMM) vcore on my 170 VPMW.

    5. (Highly Desired): PM admin in list below to REALLY test your CPU in Rosetta under XS_THE_MACHINE

    thanks buddy

I have a few questions about the 165. I'm worried about the multiplier. I've got a DFI Lanparty ultra-d. What kind of HTT are these things getting to? I'm on water right now but it will go on phase soon. To get even 3.2Ghz I would need 355HT. My 2GB memory works fine with my 4400+ at 285Mhz and even up to 290Mhz if cooled properly. I'd think about the RD580 which does not have HTT problems but I don't know yet if they would have the right memory timing adjustments.

With the SLI-DR (supposed to be simmilar to the Ultra-D) I've get to 375x8 with a 146. Didn't tried more because I was only playing with HTT x multi just for fun

So yes, you can get 355 no problem IMO

    Another 170 0550VPMW:

Watercooled, IHS still on, 1,375v in bios and using Ultra-D at the moment. The weird thing is that it can´t even do 2,9ghz, i can easily bench but prime fails, probably because of high temperatures.

I seem to require more than 1.4v to obtain 2.7GHz on my 165. This seems quite alot compared to alot of the results around here, any tips?

Hmm..2.7@1.4v is great for most opty's..your expectations are way to high

    my 170 0546 xpmw needs 1.5v for 2700

By 1.4v, I meant SmartGuardian's reading, which is quite a bit lower than the actual voltage. I need 1.45 in BIOS.

Can you guys not use MBM5 with your rigs? Works great with my ASUS mobo. I didn't try out SmartGuardian yet, but MBM seems to do everything I need. . .

my opty 165 0534 mpmw need 1.49 bios setting to get 2610..so I still say 1.45v is very nice

I agree, I get all temps, voltages including DRAM, and GPU temps, plus the CPU MHz :p Reminds me that I have a fast PC

Just got my CCB1E 0550VPMW Opty 170 in

    results in about 5 minutes
EDIT: Initial results, haven't done much yet

    First did this

    Then this

2.8 Ghz 1.31 volts air cooling
    still going

    2.85 Ghz 1.31 volts aircooling

Currently working on 3 Ghz with 1.42 volts, getting toasty - 48c

    Here we go
I'm guessing i got one of the better VPMWs it's an 029x batch

Grinch, this one isn't even from Monarch, that was my 165, which you should consult my thread about, i linked to it a few posts back, and it was OEM from Monarch. No i did not specify the stepping as they dont listen to that.

I dont have the time to run hours and hours. I dont have one CPU that i make love to daily, i got ~7 and i gotta share the love :P.

    What did DogsX2 say
This is Xtremesystems, not Xtreme Stability
i dont really care about how long it goes, i use SP2004 as a tool to find out where my max overclock is. If it doesn't fail in 15 minutes then i can go for more. And i keep going for more until i find the max. That's what i'm about, not spending 8 hours working below my potential.

Then don't bother posting screenshots of 15mins priming at each 2MHz increase, just wait till you find your max overclock and then cash in all your 15min prime sessions and make one good screenie, at least 6 hours please! you can do that when u sleep

[edit] you do sleep don't you?

Hmm i'll post what i like
I'm just trying to give XS a minor idea of how the voltage scaling goes without spending hours on it.

Keep posting Absolute_0, I am always interested in how a chip scales though an XL format would be just as good and save a bit of bandwidth for the few unfortunate ppl who only have dial up
lots and lots of cores and lots and lots of tuners,HTPC's boards,cases,HDD's,vga's,DDR1&2&3 etc etc all powered by Corsair PSU's
