    Cool FX60 @ 3430mhz, DFI Expert, Mushkin PC4000 2x1gb, Stock LS

First off a big thank you to Denny (Guess2098) for a great deal on this chip !

    FX60 SPMW 0536 ES "Topless"

This chip like most FX60 suffers from a bad cold bug, but my Stock Vapo LS is just right to take advantage of it

I ran this since Saturday at 3406mhz @ 1.72v, 262x13. Tonight I remounted my Vapo and improved temps alittle..... Big Mistake ! lol

With my improved temps came lock ups at idle. It seems that the cold bug hits at -23c and around 260mhz, so I had to go back and see what I could do about getting around it.

Running now at 245mhz x 14, with memory at 13x (233 divider) my Mushkin Redline XP4000 tops out at 264/265mhz 3d stable so this is perfect.
And for some reason, even though my memory is clocked higher now than I was previously running. There doesn't seem to be any affect with the cold bug. I am running a higher Vcore now, but mainly to get stable at 3430 and not so much to control temps.

Here are 2x SP32, I've only run Prime on the weak core by itself so far tonight so not 100% sure that its going to be dual prime at 1.74v. I'm going to have to save that for another night of playing.

    Exactly !!!!

    I have good contact !

I guess my point was that by lowering the HTT, and using the 233 divider I kept my memory speed and got rid of the cold bug issues. At -23c which is what I get at 3430mhz @ 1.7v at idle, I don't get lockups now.

nice chip and overclock!! it's a bad idea to make a bad mount purposely as you might risk frying the $1K precious just apply a very thick layer of cheap radio shack thermal compound or whatever cheap paste you have, or just put a rice/grain size paste in the middle of your IHS and mount the evaporator, either way you should pick up a couple degree just warm enough to get around the cold bug if I remember correctly the vapor LS also allow you to adjust the unit fan speed, slow it down too!!

also, have you try using weaker drive/data strength to combat the cold bug as Tony suggested before?

note: i'd also noticed your PWMIC is in the same range as mine...like high 60s underload, during dual prime you'll see it shoot up to 70+ keep it below 60 with a big fan blowing on top of them if you can, should help your overclock as well.

I use 4 layers of alumi foil with a little paste beetween evap and ihs and MPS multi. Core temp always jump to positive on 3D '06 cpu tests.

    Heres @3.4Ghz with 1.58Vcore
Idle cpu core temp @ -22C and load is +2C......20C delta in a few seconds...

Yes its my 24/7 setup, it was pretty fast at 3.2ghz with my Opty 180 but its flying now

The point I was trying to make is why not keep your temps at their best (atleast with single phase) and use a low HTT with the higher memory dividers of 233 and 250 ? (I think thats right) It seems to elude the bug and still can max out memory.

that thing is 24/7? Why not throw Rosetta @ Home on that to keep temps up? I think that would be the most powerful CPU anyone has in R@H.

I don't think you would have any problems with the cold bug and a MachII

If you keep your HTT low and use one of the new RevE dividers that lets you run the memory higher than HTT you wont see any problems with cold bug and can still max out the memory. Atleast that was my experience.

264mhz HTT with memory on 200mhz divider ( 264:264) and 13x multi I would get lock ups when temps at idle hit -23c

245mhz HTT with memory on 233mhz divider (245:264) and 14x multi no more cold bug issues at -23c

I don't have alot of experience with the cold bug since I don't do DI/LN or have a cascade but it seems to me that its HTT related and NOT memory related.

I'm going to get my LS out once I finish plumbing this WC loop. Using the divider you use seems like a great idea. You getting stable at 3400+ is awesome best I could do was 3300 dual prime, but I've learned a lot since then like playing with my chipset volts helps me a lot on air so hopefully it will on phase. Also, no problems doing 1.712 volts? I took it to 1.65, but did not have the gonads to go higher. Stock LS right?

No matter what you've got a sweet rig.

Edit: I'm an idiot the thread title says stock LS.
