w00t ATLAST! I got the storm! need help with maintainin it

    I just received the Storm

I had to pay $97.50 in total

But I got it, and thats just awesome

I just wanted to ask before using the storm, how do I clean it?

Should I just wash it through with water, or take it apart?

In addition, I see two streaks on the copper base.

Its minimal and you can only see it with a direct light on the base
on an angle. You can't feel it with your finger, but if you rub cloth
over it, you can feel the fibre of the cloth getting caught.

Is this a problem? Should I do something?

    P.S.
I would put up a pic of the scratch, but as I said, you can only see it
with your eyes and on an angle. Now I see it... there are 3 streaks.. .damn...
I tried to take a pic with a 5mp camera but no luck on capturing the streaks.

Are you shure ? If so, what's the difference between that and the older version ?

Nicksterr, oh? Havnt heard anything of this?

Have any links you might want to share to back up your statement. Swiftechs website is curiously absent of any rev. 2 data.

The block is designed for performance and will need maintenance like say a high performance car. The jet impingements seem to clog very easily so I'd avoid running any dye in the loop.

As soon as you see an increment in CPU temperatures I'd open it up and give it a clean out. Something like cilit bang should clean it out nicely, be sure to give it a good rinse before plumbing it back in.

    Ok
I guess as long as the surface is flat and clean, it'll be no problem.

    P.S.
LOL, I think Nicksterr just wants attention
jks. If ya do find any info on the rev.2 plz do share.
Anyways, I bought this storm since its one of the couple available
during the next couple months in Canada... Its this or I'll have'ta go on
back order list on a US site... BAH... back order... what a ugly thing it is...

A small mod in the upper plate slightly reduces pressure drop.

    Results probaly minimal, but better.

This has not been published yet but will be in the next few days...

i noticed my temps have not been as good lately as they used to be, i think i may need to take my storm out and clean it out real good. I guess i should first run vinegar/distilled water mix 50/50 through the loop to clean it out and then remove the block and disassemble and clean and reinstall?

If it's not too much trouble, could you even show us some crude results against the rev. 1 Storm Nick?

The improvement has to do with internal flow path, and is the result of a suggestion Stew made to me a few months ago. Pressure drop values should be incrementally improved. Overall behavior and flow characteristics of the product remain very similar.

We'll publish updated PD data on the site in a week or so.

    Sounds good.

With the G7 i know Stew did some rather nice improvements in the way the storm evacuates water out of the block by making it a hybird 3 -> 2 fitting block.

    oh??

While I have no position either way (not yet anyway) such a statement is one that brings great intrigue on my part.

    Got a link?

noh, just my thinking - sorry .. i saw a review of MP-05 pro (not LE) and it compares almost the same with g4 .. but LE edition has more pins right, so i'm assuming that it does even better job that non LE version ..
