G.Skill 2GBHZ advertised at DDR500 CAS 3-4-4-8 but mine is 3-5-5-10 by SPD?!

I have a little problem here...

I have noticed my 2GBHZ kit should be 3-4-4-8 but it is detected as 3-5-5-10
So CPU-Z and Everest confirm that, by reading the SPD info:

    Any word on that?

No, I read a post somewhere about this. Ive been searching for it for the past 10 minutes now. They set it at 3-5-5-10 stock becuase people where having trouble setting bios values. At 3-5-5-10 it wouldnt really matter what voltage or settings you use so thats why they set SPD at that. You can reprogram the SPD if it bothers you though.

EDIT: see, here is my SPD on my set

Hmm, really, so this is normal?

Hmmm, I thought this was some kind of mislabeling, and was about to try a replacement.

So if its normal, its normal... Let it be...

I take it your talking to me? I have them running 3-4-4-8... I was just commenting on the guys observation of the way the SPD is being displayed. I just picked this set up at newegg. My other set wouldn't really go over 267-268. They wouldn't even boot higher. This set however will at least boot up at 285. So maybe with a little tweaking I can get them to run 1:1 at 2.85g with my 3800...

Because I can't get the ram stable at running 1:1 (285). I'm trying right now though. Running 280MHz to see if I can get that to hold first..

Anyhow I'm still playing around with the ram.. Been kind of on a crazy schedule and haven't had time to really sit down and play with stuff... Well I ran 280mhz ok but ended up having a problem with prime. Probably tomorrow I will really get a chance to sit down and really mess with it.

OK, so I also received my G.Skill HZ and they also were 3-5-5-10 in SPD instead of 3-4-4-8 as advertised.

I see a problem here though, because I have seen several review sites testing this RAM and all of them had 3-4-4-8 in SPD. Here is one:
    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mem...roundup_7.html

What is up with that? Is G.Skill using lower quality chips with this RAM now?

SPD is just for motherboard auto pick up
before we use 500 3-4-4-8 but mobo pick up as 3-3-3-6, many customers can do 500 becasue of that!
once again SPD is for mobo not user!

I Gskill tech...are the newer version not overclocking as well

I ask because I would rather know up front rather than kill myself trying for what is unlikely to happen

I am using a DFI SLI DR ..yellow slots and 623-2...I got 260 at 2.6vdimm(bios reports 2.68) with your timings...but higher errors on memtest

I am going to try orange slots and 704-2BTA bios and you prefer -1 correct(704-1?? or 623-1??)

    Thanks Neal

BTW I realize OC is YMMV and and do as rated

there is no OC guarantee, and i can't tell you which batch is better becasue i don;t have all the time to do overclock with 500+ sticks per day. the average overclock for ALL UCCC is around 260~280!

sorry..was not trying to upset you..as I said if they do DDR500 that is rated speed and you can not complain

All I was hoping was to find out if you knew if the new batches were doing well...I hate to beat my head against the wall..

Mine have done 260...so that is a bonus

Do you still prefer the -1 bios

BTW I was not against for a guarantee..sorry if it seemed that way

no no i am not upset or angry of your post!
i just want everyone to know i can not test every batch every sticks and post the result in here. sometime i have meeting with DFI, EVGA, AMD, Intel, Nvidia ppl. sometime i need to talk to NewEGG too. checking goods and do the marketing. really don't have all day to test it. i rather hope all our product can do Overclcok super good but reality there are some good some bad one... i love to give away info but i don't have enough time.... i already works 12 hrs per day from 9am to 12pm....of coz some lunch break
