Why would anyone do that? 1000 dry ice units would never be sold. There aren't even 1000 hardcore benchers, forget 1000 who would want to try dry ice or ln2 cooling their computers. Jason makes enough for the people who really want them.

but people are going to buy OCZs cooler to look badass for the most part. I guarantee well over 50% of people who buy them will have no idea how to utilize them...and when that kind of stupidity comes to dry ice and LN2 it can become just plain dangerous
You can't compare them. Every overclocker wants better temps. OCZ phase is cheap, looks "cool", is easy to use, and can be run 24/7. DICE/ln2 can't be run 24/7 so people looked down on it for that reason.Originally Posted by n00b 0f l337

If you wanted to be sure about good measures you could first do container with lets say 7mm walls and 15mm bottom and then that reduce bottom 2mm by step by step until load temps start raising. After that you could take 1mm from the walls and see if it has negative effect on performance. My guess is that wall thickness needs to be quite thick before it reduces inner surface area so much that it starts to have negative effect on temps. It would be task matter of a half day if the lathe dice and proper testing setup is right there.
I can do this some day since i have the needed equipment and will share all the information too, but not now (perhaps in april).
But anyway you really have to be way off with base/wall thickness to get poor performance on solid copper container.

G H Z this company onlinemetals.com is based out of seattle and can be picked up, I do not know if they have good prices compared to the other metal yards around seattle though. Your Aluminium pit is looking good so far.
OT Do you work at a machine/fab shop or know a friend who works at one?
I just found Online metals today, $174 for a 1 foot section of 3" CU![]()
Wonder how tall 3" pots are and if a 6" version would work. That would be about $80 in CU alone for two pots. This lathe is my dad's, he has almost every tool known to man![]()

Yes.... things are moving at fast rate then it seems. Nice work G H Z. About 1000+ container production well I think if you make people aware about your product then you will get some who are ready to freez there way to some kinda record. Hell, with ever growing population and lil bit of money I think India will have 10-15 atleast outta those 1000+. But I think doing things by yourself means a lot more and thats why people keep doing things that are better.

The inside is a little rough but for a 10" boring bar and the wrong insertsit's pretty good I think. The lowest inner diameter is sized to the fit the IHS on Cedarmill so the container has the highest mass and thinnest base directly over the IHS only.
