    Hi, All
I've got a P4GPL-X and I can't get my vcore over 1.42V even if I sets it higher in bios ,when I start a program vcore goes down to 1.32V. When I chutdown the program vcore is up again at 1.42V. It's almost like some powersaving feature.??
It's doesn't matter if I use my 479 card or my P4 the vcore is going down anyway.
Have any of you seen this on your MB's?????? (vcore going down under stress)...

It looks similar to your problems..

    I've got a P4 s478 at 3.2G thats been up at 4.1G when I used a abit MB at 1.43V I can't get this high up with this f***ing As__us MB.
I want to benchmark my new X1800XT top at atleast 4Ghz at my cpu.

Why stop at 22% overclock when Y used to 33%

are you measuring with a DMM (digital multimeter) or through bios/asus probe?

    always use a DMM..

    Nop, only with speedfan
but I think that its right because the vcore -fsb are matching my earlier clocking. At a vcore 1.32-1.35 I come up to a fsb at 237-240 and to get up the fsb higer I must increase the vcore.
At a fsb at 253 my cpu needs at least 1.42V.
But I'l try to get time to measure it the right way.

You haven't seen this on your MB ?

nope, when i set 1.7v I got 1.41v when idle (measured using DMM) and under load dropped to 1.39v (measured with DMM)

anyone know what that VID CMOS setting is and what it does??

    37203 - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8898858

just 1.8k off single card record (3.5ghz a64), with a tweaked 2001 and some much colder air around 14'C (was 21.4'C whilst running that) I should be able to take it.

I'm also 40 points off front page ORB (for 7800gt's), first on second page... soo close

Cheers for posting those, that board does look like a good substitute for the P4GD1, think I'm gonna get one and a X1900XT at the end of the month, I'm too impatient wait for Yonah!

Just to recap, what voltage mods did you do to your rig? 3.2KOhms on the CT479 only?

I have all the hipro5 mods - a 5k Pot to adjust VCCA which can be seen here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...3&postcount=31

on long wires so that I can adjust VERY easily. currently using 2.34v VCCA.

if you have the same vcore problem as me when you get the board, then you can either do vcore mod (same as p4gd1) or uwire mod to get 1.55v which is what I have done, took some time to get the wire in place but worked first time

I am almost certain now that the VID CMOS Setting has some kind of relations to the vcore problems I'm having, judging by the various stuff that have come up on google search.

I'll continue searching but could someone knowledgable with this stuff help me please

have you got a retail or OEM processor, ASUS told someone that this only happens with OEM processors and advised them to buy a retail one... yeh right as if I'm going to spend another £100 because ASUS won't bloody update the bios

vcore change not working on retail either??? have you actually tried, could you actually give some details other than dots, it's really not very useful.

what cpu is yours? i.e. 760/750 etc..?

Its a 770. And yes, I have tried - and tried several bios versions. It seems that the only way out of this is modding.

How do I mod the vcore to 1.5 V? 1.6 is too high for my stock cooler.

P4GPL-X shows about 10 degrees higher temp at full load.. same CPU/cooler compared with a P4P800 SE (or P4P800-E).
Why is VCore setting in Bios a problem for this board suddenly?
The board I had for a while overvolt'ed quite a bit..tested with both Pentium M or Celeron M (2 of each).
My Celeron M's (350 and 360) didn't respond to higher VCore at all.. they actually wouldn't boot if I set VCore any higher than 1.4.
Is this "VCore-problem" related to newer P4GPL-X boards or a specific (new) Bios-versjon? (I just ordered another P4GPL-X to use with a 740M I have as a spare...To long to wait for Yonah, Merom)...

I don't know dude but it sure is a PITA, the wire mod is very useful though, as I can up to 1.65v if I set 1.7v in the bios.

    Downloading HDTach now..

    look below

that good? had quite a bit running in the background so..

The wiremod is what got me to 2.7, before that i would only get up to about 2.6. It seemed like what ever i set vcore to in the bios it never got any higher. I'm not really happy with my harddrive setup, first i have a PCI raid controller and it would only do about 96 in HD tach. Now im using a PCIe 1x controller. With the same hard drives with the on board RAID0 on my IC7max3 it would do about 178 180. I've had setups set to 16k stripping. Also my x1800xl doesn't overclock well at all.
