i noticed that the plastic brackets are very easy to break and found these but they only seem to be in the US so if anyone can find them in the UK they should get a medal. =P Anyway with all these adapters being metal you might as well do metal all they way heh
    http://www.coolerguys.com/840556062097.html
As you can see the Metal bracket is designed to take AMD/Any other HS's but also can take the normal p4 HS's so it would be perfect to adapt for a stronger hold down XD

I changed the way I mounted my 7000-alcu when i got my p4gpl-x so here are pics:

the VR with the long wires is VCCA. contact would be better if my IHS didn't have a hill in the centre I sanded it so badly, need a new one

Just wondering what temps you see with that solution? I have copied your method and I'm seeing temps in the low 50's whilst calculating super pi 8M, the fan is at max, it starts to creep up if i turn it down.

you probably wont get good contact without IHS, I'm using an IHS on my dothan.

dont really know temps, got a 7700cu on it now (mounting almost the same way)

What are your idle and load temps with that cooler? Can you take a closer pic pls if you got the time to. I'd like to see how you mounted it. I might grab the copper version of that cooler

Is the CNPS7000B-CU too heavy for Dothan if I use the shim on the stock HS from CT-479?

no, but i'd recommend the 7000alcu instead of the all copper version.

I guess because of the weight, it may kill your Dothan.

Not true, Im using a Hyper6 w/2x80 Tornado mounted with zip ties. Now do the math. But trying to fit a hyper48 is a different story. Damn POS cooler cracked a big chunk of my chip on the corner.
