Hmm... would a 930 OC better than this?

Currently thinking of a complete new PC(maybe), but still thinking about parts, and waiting

I'm using the Mushkin PC5300 yeah! So far liking them alot. Not a whole ton of headroom at 3-3-3-x timings, but once at 4-4-4-18 and 2.2v they will do about 1ghz give or take , not bad for 2x1gb sticks.

Have u tried to turn off the hyper path 3, and the other options i mentioned in post #9 ?

Because i had same problem to reach the 4.2G with only 1.375v, and the prob was HyperPath3, and a few other tweaks on BIOS. After turn off this settings and make what i mentioned on post #9, i put my 920@4.2G without any probs!

Its interesting seeing you guys play with the 65nm dualcores and turning off Asus Hyperpath 3 and performance mode to standard at 4.2ghz, not so with older 90nm single core 630 on same mobo.

My feeling was right, better at the moment to be patient and wait unitll 2nd wave of 65nm dualcores....
Signature? are you kidding? with new stuff coming out every day, why bother ?

I have the same thought also. However due to the fact that i'll change my P5WD2 with a P5WDG2-WS, i ordered a 920 too. If things go wrong i'll wait for a 2nd batch 930...

With HyperPath 3 on and Performance mode to Turbo -> 3.9G Stable but only with 1.42vcore.

Why u said that? Hyper Path 3 and Performance Mode are only automatic tweaks, and as u know, when u're OCing manualy you should turn off all automatic OC settings and tweaks....!

just got my p5wdg2-ws last weekend
and tried a D950ES on it...

note that this particular chip would not run stable above 4ghz - 1.50v
    on a P5N32SLI
idle temps were falsely detected below room temperature
and Snm 100% cpu load ~36C

Yesterday this D950ES passed several quick 100% load snm tests and Spi
    on the p5wdg2-ws @ 4.65ghz - 1.35v! (everything else default)
    aircooled (xp-120) with max temps ~65c (28.1'' 1m SPi)
definitely needs some serious w/c setup
but i'm kinda worried about the 8 phase mosfets and southbridge hsf
    running too hot to touch
(everest detects Aux* temp rise from ambient up to 123C!!!)

tomorow i'll probably have some time to test it with the same watercooling setup to see how it handles around 5g (hopefully)

*wish i knew what exactly is that Aux temp sensor reading anyway....

    Hey,

    I have a problem...could you help?
    HELP!!
I spent 2 days trying to get this motherboard to work. I only have 1 problem it will not detect anything on the PCI slots. But everytime I reboot it tell me it found new hardware when I check the device manager it tells me I have a PCI device that needs to have drivers installed. Problem is it won't take the inf files for this MB. I can take the X-fi out and still get the same thing: reboot, detects pci device, asks me to install driver, denies use of drivers available throught DL or CD. Has anyone ever had this problem? Please help...
Right now everything is fine except I don't have sound...

With the 640 that I had, i never had this problem and I never needed to disactivate these settings to OC well, but with the 920 I had to change this settings to obtain 4.2G.

That's my case also. I have to disable HyperPath 3 to keep my 920 stable @ 4.1ghz.

I'm not really sure whether it's the 920 or the P5WD2-E that get's weird above ~300 Mhz fsb. It's probably the motherboard, hopefully a new bios will resolve it later. It's like I can run 3dmark05complete suite with cpu tests, I can run pcmark04 and 05 with no trouble, but superpi 1M will fail within 5-6 seconds...w00t Oh yeah, and memtest86 runs error free for hours too, but superpi 1M will fail within seconds. Usually I can run superpi 1M at at least 250-300 Mhz above what I can run pcmarks error free at with my single stage phasechange cooling. I'm puzzled..... to say the least

At any rate, I've been benching some 3dmarks with my 920 @ 4.9 Ghz today, and coupled with a x1900xtx card is does quite well. Almost 41k in 3dmark2001se and over 12.5k in 3dmark05. Pretty damn good for the cheapest (until 805 arrives at least) Intel P4 dualcore cpu.

I cannot have hyperpath3 enabled either, with my 670 @ 370+ MHz fsb it was fine in my P5WD2-P, but anything other than "auto" on this P5WD2-E spells trouble

I really don't like disabling HyperPath 3 but it seems that's the only solution for high fsb's.
