Which Sempron should I go with?

I am trying to build a budget rig and am looking at a Sempron 64. Which Sempron gives me the best price/performance ratio for overclocking? Also, what is the best motherboard with onboard video for overclocking?

64 2800+ gets the best results depending on board. Usouly the most OCable for the lowest price. Get to 2800mhz or 3000mhz + most of the time. My cpu has a bad memory controler so I couldn't go any higher. CPU limited, my cpu gave out. Just remember the DFI board doesn't have Onboard video and costs more.

Best onboard video for OCing would be my babe. Budget DFI killer. Watch my results on a venice as soon as I get it tomarrow. This board OC's like a dream. Smooth and stable until you hit the max of the CPU. My board doesn't hang up. The darn cpu zones out. Posts to the very last fsb I can get out of it.

Onboard never gets effected or limited infact it gets better with this board. Best 754 OCer and onboard you can get. Cheap. Get the Tforce6100-754 at new egg for 70 bucks. Beats my DFI board that died. Blows it out of the water. I'll hit 3ghz with a real athlon. No prob maybe even more. All the OC features you would expect with a dfi board best with a Bios upgrade. They are still adding more stuff to it since its biostars top of the line board.

Best board I ever owned. Gets almost 10,000 on 3dmark 2001 with my current OC. I can play Doom 3 on high at 800 by 600 or pritty much any game. FEAR medium or higher depending on your OC. Prince of persia 3. Far cry. SH4. On high. Pritty much any game played on high with low res. doesn't get any better then that with onboard. 6150's arn't on the 754. And if they are its not worth the lack of OCing features. Go with a Biostar Tforce6100 and you'll thank me. I had this since september. Its the last best 754 coming out.

The sockets will be replaced soon, the new ones will cost twice as much with little performance difference. Get this and you never need to upgrade for a long time. Stay head of the game for cheap. Out perform most single core cpus. Compete with 939's. Got it all. If you want the 2nd best board. You can get a DFI for 100 bucks. With no onboard video. This is the only micro atx that OC's like a atx board. And has all the latest good tech you'll ever want. Check it out.

Since 754 cannot run dual-channel,go with one 1GiB stick for now. This is good.

@Backbone: The case is $50. I don't see how that is too expensive. It is actually a very good price for such a good case.

Also, I am sticking with onboard for now since I have such a strict budget. I may upgrade the video card later, but since I am not a very serious gamer (I mostly play older games) then the onboard video should be more then enough for my needs. Also, the motherbord I picked out seems to be the best board with onboard video.

@oicurafox2000: Very good point about the lack on dual-channel on s754. That G.Skill also looks great for the price. Thanks!

Also, don't worry, I will be posting results here. In fact, because of my lack of experience with overclocking, I will most likely be posting here for help on getting the most out of my overclock.

Does anybody have any other suggestions?

I actually think I'll go with two of these:

So, here is my system configuration. I think it will stay like this unless somebody thinks that I should change anything.

Lookin' like a solid build. I'm not sure if you can pick up single sticks of Samsung UCCC gig sticks, but I'd get one of those over two 512MB sticks at this point. But other than that, lookin' good!

Only thing about that board. You won't get as nice of a OC from it. I would spend the extera 5 or 10 bucks on a Tforce 6100 thats Biostars top of the line. Its only 69 bucks to get from newegg vs what a 5 buck diff? You don't want to be that cheap. I went budget as well. You'll fly with a better OC then me with that better sempron you got. Great fun to OC. Biostar geforce mobos may look the same but blea they lack what Tforces have. Super quality parts for cheap and the DFI like OCing abilities. Just remember Geforce 6100 M7's are budget. Tforce 6100's will kick twice the butt down the street. They really are that much better. Technical stuff. lol Diff reverions yada yada yada... XD I really think you should go with the Tforce instead.

Best budget investment I ever made for such a high quality board. Somebody has a Geforce6100-754 I know... he wishes he had a Tforce 6100 and spent that little extera amount of money. Just a thought to help in the long run. A Geforce isn't the best thing to OC on. Tforces are seriously. You'll get a lot more bang for your buck. You'll max out at 2.4ghz with that 2800 on a geforce6100 if your lucky only bios limited 300fsb. On a Tforce you'll get upto 2.8ghz or 3ghz depending on the limit of the cpu or the memory controler. All semprons hit a wall at around 350fsb to 380fsb. If the mem controler is good in the cpu you'll get 400+fsb. Max is 450 smack in aton of DFI OCing options and ya got a tforce6100. Geforces don't work the same 50% less the OCing features. And you can't put a Tforce bios into a Geforce one. They just arn't the same. Funny how some ppl do that end up destroying there boards. I just really recommend you get the Tforce6100. You really won't be sorry. I hate to see somebody make the wrong choice thinking they are really getting a winner. Only winner in biostar is the Tforce. Its just too cheap to pass up for such quality they give you. They really should cost alot more to tell ya the truth. I'm surprized biostar can get away with that. The parts the Tforce uses cost alot more. Like compared to a 200 buck DFI board serously. Down to the same caps they use. Super high tollarence parts... Just fabuless quality I should know.

Yeah, I actually changed it to the TForce6100-754. So is there anything else I should change? I think everything is good.

I think I would get Gskill memory (2x 512) Thats the best memory you can get in my oppinion seems to OC better, it can be pritty cheap. And if you apsolutly can afford it get the kind that have TCCD chipsets in the memory.

Depending on your memory controler in your 2800+ expect to be looking at speeds like this, just thought that would help showing this around. Finally sombody OCed a cpu on a tforce6100-754 with a good sempron. My sempron sucks that bad. Same model blows mine away cus of the memory controler is better. >__> XD

I just saw your location. My buddy grew up in Sofia, Bulgaria. Whats really random is years later after here living in the United States, he has ran into three separate people who he knew as a kid... completely randomly. One guy even used to drive rally cars with his father 25 years ago.

Biostar Tforce6100-754 OCing options... 02 bios

CPU 200 to 450htt, memory 100/133/166/200/216/233/250htt devider, 1x/2x/3x/4x/5x hypertransport upto 1000 x2 = 2000mhz yes this IS the 754 Tforce6100 lol I Oced it to 2800mhz hypertransport so far stable for months, volts 0.1 to 1.8v vcore, 2.5v to 3.3v DIMM, around 12 to 15 memory timmings, PCI-E 100 to 145htt, Dog timmings 31, max cpu multiplyer 25x min multiplyer 4x. Onboard GPU clock at 425mhz so far locked. They just keep adding more to it, its still a bata bios. They plan on adding chipset volts, and hyper transport volts from what I hear in later bios. Have it in the manual.

Show OC features of Abit NV8? I would like to know if it can do all this. Nforce 4x don't have onboard video do thay?

Hmm, I perfure the Tforce. Abit NV8 still good for a older board, too bad its atx and has no onboard video. :/ Nforce 4x's are pritty good despite its quorks I'm sure it OC's like a dream. Still I like to have the newest parts. XD

I was going to get a Foxconn 6100K8MB-RS, GeForce 6100/MCP410, which was the first nforce410/430 board I have found with cvore up to 1.65V and vdimm up to 2.85V.
Looks like the Biostar is even better.
