    burned XFX 6800GT parts: c531 and c532

I have a problem with my 6800GT pci-e: the c531 and c532 (back side of the card, bottom left) made a short-circuit due to impropered manufacturing, but the manufacturer doesnt want to provide me another one. he claims it was my mistake.
So I need to repair it myself. can anyone provide me some information about what those pieces really are? they are specific for the pci-e PCB, but I need a name for it so I can buy 2 other ones and try to attach them instead of the burned ones.
I know this is not an ordinary question, but i've spend my last penny to buy an sli based system, and I don't want to give up my system because my manufacturer is too lazy to do some research. The card is 100% nvidia's reference design, except that the card is colored blue and not green. (XFX)
the image shows which parts I mean:

    thx

The only way to unless you can find the value from someone that has a schematic would be to unsolder the capacitors from a working card and testing them in a capacitor farad meter, not a very common device unfortunantley

The card was sent to XFX. they said the following:
[you - 19/1/2006 13:59:8] the rma code was PHR6338. can you please look after it, because my reseller keeps claiming "the card was sent to the UK, and XFX decided no rma was possible"

[Alan - 20/1/2006 13:18:17] Hi, the serial number you have provided in your registration GHH188862 has not been received by the RMA centre. A card with a different serial number does match with the information you have given on that RMA reference and was rejected due to damage on the card which was deemed not present at the time of purchase. Unfortunately we`re unable to help further with this enquiry and advise that you will need to discuss this with your reseller, with best regards, Alan

damage at time of purchase, sure! I dont give power to the card while it's still in the box 8-\.

Don't know about a farad meter being an uncommon feature but the most of the more expensive dmm now have them.

Your best bet is to try and find someone with a DMM who has got the same card and can measure the value of the caps that have blown. Once you know the value you are looking for it shouldn't be to difficult to get hold off a few.
Does anyone know where i can get bananas like this the only ones I can get don't dance and go black after a few weeks

There both 10uf i would hazzard a guess and say they are 1206 in size I might be wrong.

Should be able to get them from digikey or mouser no problem. Or you could scavenge one of another card/board

Anyway I hope this helps you but i would have a good look over the card for no other signs of damage.

    good luck

    thanks for your help guys!
I really appreciate you tested it for me, because I don't have a farad-meter.
I'll try to find it in a shop nearby where they sell electrical parts (chips, resistors, etc)
    anyway, thanks for your help!

I just went to get the card. the reseller seemed very frusterated because XFX told me he 'd handle the RMA and give me a new card. he gave me a log about a conversation between XFX and their distributor, and how they thought about my RMA request:

This is not funny! they push the RMA back to the reseller, and they consider us, hard working overclockers who spent their last penny to their hardware, like semi-criminals who have nothing better to do then burning components and giving them back for RMA. and to finish with: they kept my far cry DVD! damn XFX, evga next time ...

well i hope you understand that if those 2 capaciors burnt out they may have taken some others components with them... happens all the time, although i only have experience with large electronics (like tv's, vcr's, dvd players...)so i could be wrong.

when they started burning, they had a short-circuit for 2 seconds (at most). i don't think there will be anthing broken at the card. it's simplpy not long enough (my x2 cpu did'nt die when I gave it 2V for 10 seconds)
