LOL - I work at Price Guide Network!!!! We are up in Wisconsin where we have snow, cheese, beer, and cheap graphics cards!!! Seriously though, we cut a good deal with ATI and Sapphire. I just looked at the inventory on the X1800 XT 512MB and we have 5 Sapphire left and 7 ATI left. We have a bunch of X800 GTO2 cards too.

We are a new online e-tailer but we've been around south central Wisconsin for a while now. Give us your trust and seriously, we'll work hard to keep you happy with your purchase. If you make a purchase and put xtreme systems in the checkout box, I will personally handle your order.

I'm glad I went with the 512mb GTX....in every game it's faster then the X1800XT...now that is nice

I expected abit more from Crossfire.......it's up there, but it's still not a decisive victory...it's all very close to each other...the clear winner is the 512mb GTX, but if you look at it from different perspectives...the XT is a solution that is more available, cheaper and has very nice performance....

But IMO the real winner is the 256GTX....no doubt about it....6 months ago you could pick one up....now that it is way cheaper then the two leading high end cards....but maintaining it's high end position...is very impressive.

Conclusion : Too late, but good performing.....and never trust ATI PR btw

Interesting round up there tim...though the fact that all XTs can now be flashed to XT OCs (~9.8k stock 05) for about $250 less means its also the more practical choice...you're getting 92% of the performance of the GTX 512MB for 67% of the price....which makes it one hell of a deal right now.

The biggest plus for the GTX 512MB ? This isn't 'www.second-best-systems.com its xtremesystems. Kinc, Kingpin, Shamino all use the GTX 512MB to secure their positions on top of the orb. You could look at Kingpins single card 50k with the GTX 512MB and say "thats the card I have" and nothing can take that away from you, irrespective of what anyone says.

    256-bit ring-bus memory controller for X1600 announcement?

    Look 4 paragraphs down:

    http://ir.ati.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=10...165&highlight=

With ATI's revolutionary Avivo video and display technology, the Radeon X1600 series redefines the visual experience on today's PCs by delivering vibrant colors, ultra-sharp images, true-to-life image reproduction and the smoothest HD video playback ever offered by ATI. The new Radeon X1600 XT also features 256-bit ring-bus memory controller and support for up to 512 MB of RAM.
Anyone else heard any news about that? I would think that the 256bit memory bus would help out this card a lot.

Thanks for your input, I need a good mid range solution, and if this really helps, I might get the X1600XT after all.

just posted in cooper's thread, but there is a difference between the actual memory interface and the ring-bus. On the X1800 at least, the ring bus is 512-bit and the mem. interface is 256-bit. I'm kinda guessin its the same thing on X1600, but with 256/128 sepcs.

Hmmm, you may be right, here is a Newegg description of one that is out now:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131317

    Down under the memory description.

    Memory Interface 128-bit
Can anyone confirm if the actual memory interface is getting a bump to 256bit? Or are we still looking at only 128bit?

After looking a bit I guess I answered my own question.

Here is a link to the original X1600 page, which already talks about the 256bit ring-bus:

    http://www.ati.com/products/RadeonX1600/index.html

Still wondering if they will allow a 256bit memory interface instead of the damn 128bit. I think that we would be looking at a steadfast competitor to the 6800GS if it gets it.

Firstly, to avoid any confusion (this'll be moved to ATI News thread btw, not new news)... the X1600XT's memory bus is 128-bit times two...like the X1800XT's bus is 256-bit x 2 for 512-bit ring bus. Its still a 128-bit memory interface, and only overclocks will prove if memory bandwith scales the same as current hardware with 128-bit buses.

Because of this the X1600XT can either have 128-bit times two or 256-bit imes two, nothing in the middle. And ATI is not keen on giving the X1600XT 512-bit ring bus as that'll mean 44.8Gb/s of memory bandwith which along with its shader processing power will require greater power consumption, more heat and not to mention a bigger pcb.

Following is information is summary of speculation on X1700...

The RV535 (X1700) might be based on a 80nm die size and early reports suggest twice the amount of TMUs as the X1600 but no word on ROPs.

It may well be 8-1-1-1 (8 TMUs) or if the fact that its going to be released alongside the R580 has anything to do with it, it has a greater chance of being 8-1-2-1 resulting in 16 shader pipelines. That may seem optimistic, but remember Nvidia will release its own 7600 in response to this, so the nex gen mainstream battle begins with the x1600...what it ends with will be known March 2006.

Thanks for the reply perkham, I didn't know that the memory architecture was set up that way. That was very informative.

ATI's R580 has 16 pipelines but 48 Pixel Shader units

    Source

    Hopefully this wasn`t published before
So ATI turnes all it`s strenght to improove grafics look - smooth move. The actual pure speed performance already is very good and has room for the future
