    s939 90nm Cold Bug Database

    Hello, I am starting this thread in an attempt to compile information on the 90nm s939 AMD cold bug issues. Any and all 90nm s939 amd cpu's are valid.Please List the information in the following format(this is just an example not real information):

    CPU Name: Opteron 148
    Core: Venus
    Stepping: CAB2E
    Week: 0546 BPMW
    Batch#:500043
    Bugged?: yes
    Symptoms: No post
    Die temp at which bug occurs: -30 c
    Evap temp (if on Phase): -45 c
    Lowest Tested fully working and stable temp: -5 c

    Please feel free to give any additonal info on your situation and or experience with the bug! thanks!

    IMHO Waste is a computer going to a landfill having done actual computations less than 90% of it's life. 90% of the computers powered on right now are idle or powered off; what a waste! [/B]

    cold bug depends on stepping and batch (how the memorycontroller is tweaked). CAB2E does good on air but sucks subzero. Some uberpr0's (e.g. stephen) know which are bugged and which aren't. Filling in this information doesn't help a tad.

    I'm just trying to get as much information as I can about the AMD cold bug compiled into one thread rather than having it all over the place. I have had people say their's bugs out at -20c while some fx's don't bug out untill -90c, some people say their's won't post, some can't run high HTT....as you can see there is ALOT of variation on the different symptoms as well as the temps they occur at.I am just trying to put all of this in one place so that if I am buying a current cpu I can decrease the chances of getting a bugged chip or aleast have some idea of what to expect.

    Have a few more I can add later. If you can maintain some sort of summary this will be a useful thread.

    hey thanks, yeah any and all, im just trying to do consolidate all this so that people will know when buying a cpu. I already know that:

    NO 130nm are affected (from what I have heard, I haven't personally tested this)
    and that ALL winnies are afftected (again, not personally tested)

    If someone knows a general rule like the ones above that will help too so we can group the cpu's by some thing in common that either do or don't have it, or are affected at given temps.

    Thanks!

    wrong answer coldbug does not depend on stepping

    i had two
    3000+ venice 0512 DPBW
    batch 500026 and 500036

    026-->coldbug at 3ghz -30
    036-->no coldbug at dryice

    so is it purely batch # dependant?

    Just a suggestion, you may want to consider changing the topic name to something along the lines of Cold Bug CPU Stepping Database which may attract more people to read/contribute. At first glance i assume people just think theres going to be a series of "yes" & "no" answers within the thread.

    None the less, excellent idea

    Ok guys I really appreciate the results so far! Once we start getting quite a few I'll start compiling some of the info and see if there may be some generalities or rules we may be able to go by. I really appreciate the response! Any suggestions/comments welcome.
