    NF7-S Rev 1.2 VDIMM Mod

    I can't figure this out... I've seen a few pics but I can't figure out where to solder to. Also, do I have to have the 10 Ohms resistor in there or can I skip that? I really need this mod! I can do 230Mhz at 8-3-3-2.5... I want 230@ 5-2-2-2. I think my Corsair can do it with a little more voltage.

    You can skip the 10 ohm resistor, if you keep the original. Just solder a wire to the pin end of the original resistor (can be found out easilly with a multimeter) and then use a 200 or 500 ohm VR. It's usefull to use a magnifying glass when you solder

    pin side of resistor to where? Mosfet leg or ground?

    I did it, but BIOS shows 3.24 always, changing the resistor doesn't change the value, although with the VR set above like 150-200 Ohms the system reboots or doesn't boot at all. Is it really 3.24? If so, then no problem, that's what I wanted anyway, eheh. Oh yeah, that's with bios set to 2.6 also.

    uh, (Goofly)I hope you didnt just Fu*K up his board. Svenn, you do NOT solder it from resistor to ground. You solder it from Resistor to the LEG of the mosfet...If you have the picture look at it and solder it to the leg thats indicated. If it helps any, I used a 100 ohm Pot(removed resistor) and I was barely able to change the vdimm with 100 ohm. I recommend 200 ohm at least. I ended up just soldering (2) 47 ohm resisters in series with the pot. I can't really take any pictures that would be useful, as my hot glue is sorta covering the solder job to secure things up. Again, not to ground, to mosfet!

    Svenn: VDIMM don't show in the BIOS, check it in Windows with MBM.

    impulse: If he did NOT remove the original resistor then he only needed to add a VR and connect it to the ground, I know this since I've done it and it works on my MB.

    Oh it does? Wich one is it? Since never ran this MB unmodded.

    nm. found it.

    Found out also that if you leave the original resistor then you'll have to use a higher VR, like a 1k or 500ohm, and the max VDIMM you'll get is 3,2v. I have a 500ohm VR and when set to max I get 2,94v at 2,6 in BIOS. So looke like one has to get down the initial value of the original resistor by removing it or adding an other resistor/VR paralell to it.

    ps. does anyone have the pictures, since I can't see em after the forum moved to this IP.

    So if I am understanding the just of this thread correctly there is no need to lift and cut pin 19 of the winbond regulator with this method? Just to confirm if I am understanding this correctly: Pin end of SMD on the board (How do you determine Pin end?) ----> 500ohm VR ------> to furthest Mosfet leg from Winbond regulator.

    i beleive its on the side the arrows are pointing wait for someone to confirm this tho as i have a ver 1.0 but i did the mod. pin 19 to pot then pot to ground the resistor is already going from the pin to mosfit the easiest way thier saying is to use the pin side of the resistor to soder to as a smb grabber is to big and impossible to soder to the leg as its attached to the board you could lift it tho

    Thanks wolfgang, I'll wait for the others to confirm my understanding of the mod before I proceed, but from what I am seeing it seems easy enough, at least much easier than the "dreaded" pin 19 mod, I did this on my BD7II and it turned out to be a nightmare

    hi all , i was trying to do both Vdd and Vdimm mod on my NF7-S rev2.0

    They are supposely the same as rev1.2

    I followed the directives of this site (http://www.motherboardfaqs.com/NF7/) , that i supposed to be right -but it was false -

    The Vdd was ok, but the Vdimm didn't work properly :

    here what i made :



    the mobo won't even boot up :/ so i removed the Vdimm and restart the mobo (which was ok fortunatly )

    actually i can read in this thread that if i change the VR value of 100 ohms to 500ohms or 1k it will be ok ? can anyone confirm it ?

    btw , i ll purchase 500ohms / 1k soon to try it out , but soldering this little resistance freack me a bit, i did it twice with a conventionnal soldering 'thing' (can't remember the english word) it is about the same size of the resistor !!!

    yes as i see, 1k instead of 100 ohms , there was no hurt ( i hope) so no pb for me : friends

    So for the VR I use a 1k and not a 100Ohms, that could explain a few things, like my board being RMA'd!

    1K is the right value to use, btw i don't mod the vdimm now, seems that it overvolt only the DIMM #3

    I did fried 1 stick of GEIL PC3500 with the mod :/
    Going with OCZ is more reliable b/c it needs only 2.9V at 250Mhz (but instable)
