    Cool Dropped X1800XT load temps to 49C on air = 12k 3dmark05

    Unhappy with temps all round decided to take apart my entire bench rig and move it from behind my new 1HP portable air con unit to in front of it to see if I can cool the system now and guess what it's pretty cool now

    Pics at http://www.fileshosts.com/DFI/NF4_SL...n_cooled/html/

    X1800XT @621/747

    Idle & Load

    Air con is @26C reported temps
    - reduced X1800XT idle temps from 43-44C at 100% fan speed to 32-33C at 100% fan speed
    - reduced X1800XT voltage regulator temp from 52-55C to 39-42C
    - reduced PWM and Chipset idle temps from 33-38C to 24-26C
    - reduced X1800XT load temps from 67-71C to 47-49C

    Hope it helps some

    Update Jan 2, 2006:
    this AC helps alot core nearly managed 783mhz at same volts 1.5v but it hung in 3dmark05 GT3 nature near the end hehe

    now working on mem and like the progress

    909-918mhz no mem volts needed
    927mhz mem undervolted from 2.097v to 2.034v
    936mhz mem undervolted from 2.097v to 2.037v okay
    945mhz mem undervolted from 2.097v to 2.058v okay

    HIS X1800XT stock hsf air
    @776/936

    3dmark05 = 11,435
    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1642508

    Update: Jan 6, 2006
    Roughly seems it scales as

    GPU
    1.425-1.45v = 756mhz
    1.475v = 762mhz
    1.5v = 783mhz
    1.525v = 789mhz
    1.55v = 796mhz
    1.575v = 803mhz

    Mem seems to have gone from
    2.097v = 909-936mhz
    1.933v = 945mhz
    1.949v = 954mhz
    1.955-1.965v = 963mhz
    1.979-1.987v = 972mhz with slight artifact in 3dmark05 GT3

    To give you an idea of power draw at load for

    Opteron 170 @2950mhz at 1.62v
    Corsair Hydrocool 200EX
    HIS X1800XT @803/972 1.575v/1.985v
    4x 80GB Hitachi 7K80 SATA II raid 0
    1x 250GB Maxtor Maxline Plus2 PATA

    3dmark05 load = 580W

    Load includes
    - 61W from BenQ FP2091 + BenQ FP91G LCD monitors
    - 34W from MCP655 pump + 5x 120x25mm fans + dual LCD monitor probe
    - ~14W Corsair Hydrocool 200EX
    - 580W - 104W = 476W for system at load

    And so far 11,852 3dmark05!

    Update: Jan 8, 2006

    The conroe uses 4mb's of L2, it is a SSE monster. 2 cores, extra 64 bit line. About it. Will be a great multi-tasker. But its really not that impressave.

    eva2000, you don't use OC bios, true?
    because I look that in 3d mode voltage remains 1.3, and not go up to 1.4x

    I have never flashed to X1800XT PE bios because there's no need for it since my card on stock bios original out of the box does 756/882 easy with just using ati tool to set 1.45 (1.48v according to rivatuner monitoring) and X1800X oc'ing tool to clock in 2D mode as per SIOUX's instructions

    MTP04, use rivatuner 15.8 for monitoring

    Very nice scores eva, ac units rule.

    You need to crank it up abit more and aim for 12K in 05.
