    Mine looked even better than that when I took the IHS off, but to get a "cleaner" looking cpu, I took off the black stuff

    I learned the hard way without pads on FX57 and cascade

    Without pads we have to be really careful.....this cascade's evap can do some damage

    I bent a pin while using a razor blade to take mine off, then While mounting XP90c thru mobo with screws instead of cret bracket I also chipped a corner, she still posted but after 1.55 she finally called it quits

    This is what the PO of my CPU did to keep the core from crushing under weight

    Said he put a few dollops of epoxy then took a peiece of glass and made it flush with the core and then took it off when it dried I think

    you know what I really dont understand about chip makers, why wont they just add shims like on ATI's cards that sit flush or slightly lower than the core... it would be so perfect!

    That's reasonable. AMD would get better yields as well, so it should make them some money.

    Just removed the IHS on my 3500+ using the pics here as a guide.

    Worked like a charm and took maybe 3-5 minutes max. Curious to see how the temps work out after all this.

    Agreed, I was scared at first also but after I did it I was so happy with temp drop on a X2.. Ill pop everyone I get from now on..
