Well, Dont think its nesserary, never wasted a XP core, nor a A64 core... - You really need to try hard in order to waste the core on A64..Originally Posted by Dumo

May her soul rest in peace, I would post pix but Cant find usb cable from Digi Cam

This is what the PO of my CPU did to keep the core from crushing under weight
Said he put a few dollops of epoxy then took a peiece of glass and made it flush with the core and then took it off when it dried I think

I can picture in my mind a world without hate, a world without violence.
And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.
you know what I really dont understand about chip makers, why wont they just add shims like on ATI's cards that sit flush or slightly lower than the core... it would be so perfect!
They don't want U to remove IHS............Originally Posted by 0mega1

That's reasonable. AMD would get better yields as well, so it should make them some money.you know what I really dont understand about chip makers, why wont they just add shims like on ATI's cards that sit flush or slightly lower than the core... it would be so perfect!

Just removed the IHS on my 3500+ using the pics here as a guide.
Worked like a charm and took maybe 3-5 minutes max. Curious to see how the temps work out after all this.
